Questions about Sammons Lease Purchase...

The previous poster is just a sample of the majority of O/O's who are like sheep, they follow blindly their fellow sheep without bothering to really, really check into what they are dissing. I have been involved in L/P's previously and they haven't worked because they don't do it like Sammons. Sammons model works, that's why I came here. I have been on the other side of the fence as a true O/O, independent O/O. Due to a few bad choices, I have to go this route if I want to keep owning a truck. Troll, why not do your due diligence and call them to see what they offer, then come back and troll if you wish, but then you will be informed, not merely parroting other sheep.

According to the Sammons response above the driver makes "Average take home pay for L/P is $2400/month"
That is welfare money! I pull a flat for an excellent reputable flatbed company and take home $1,200 or more per week. Thats is $4,800 per month!! Yes I am a company driver. I plan on being an owner operator....but not in a fleece purchase!
According to the Sammons recruiter "The 2008 and 2009 are around $80000. Each truck is differentas far as transmission, fridge, apu, etc." Also "12% interest on the trucks." Want to drive a truck that probably has been driven by numerous people that had pipe dreams of being an owner operator....go for it.
You can get a really nice 2013 or 2014 for around $80,000. Nuff said on that.
If you opt to go into a lease purchase...I strongly suggest that after you apply you get a copy of the lease purchase contract and meet with an attorney /CPA that specializies in trucking. If you opt to go further....insure you have the truck checked over really good by a dealership...and ask for all maint records to be reviewed. I also would suggest haveing a sample engine oil sent out to insure that there are no internal issues that are about to crop up on you. This would not only apply to Sammons.....but to any other company doing a lease purchase.
If they refuse to give you a copy of the lease purchase contract to review or not allow you to have the truck inspected.....Walk away.
Last but not least you must understand this. THE TRUCK IS NOT YOURS! YOU ARE NOT A TRUE OWNER OPERATOR! When you can take your truck and lease to who ever you want.....then you are an owner operator.

Plus 20% down of 80000 is a chunk of change most people don't have these days.

The program is as honest as I've found. I've talked to several owner operators and invited the recruiter here myself.
I agree though, the thing that prevents me from signing with them is the take home money. But you will not make good take home money in any lease program while you still owe money on the truck.
