Prime vs. Prime

Prime trucking is not happy about Amazon putting prime on their trucks and is suing.

Amazon has a "few more" dollars than Prime ever will...

Amazon can bleed Prime dry, with delays and lawyers costs.

I don’t know. The thing prime trucking has going for them is they’ve been using the prime logo on their trucks since the 1980s, before Amazon even existed. So they can rightfully claim they had it first. Maybe Amazon will fight it. Or maybe they’ll pay them off. It’s an interesting case.

If I sold a soft drink and called it Coke but just used a different logo with the name Coke I’m pretty sure I’d still get sued by Coke.

If I open a hamburger restaurant and call it McDonalds but instead of Golden Arches I use a different logo that still won’t fly. I’d get sued out of business.

a former employer of mine, Highway Express out of Richmond, VA had his trucks painted EXACTLY like the old Rollins trucks.

as in this pic of a model

Rollins tried to sue my former employer for "stealing" the colors.

the owner of my company and his VP, went in person to Rollins with thier lawyers and simply asked a question....

"your colors trademarked/registered?"

to with the answer was NO...

case closed, my former employer had all his trucks painted like a Rollins.

my former employer..??

Mr. James Harwood Cochran.....

founder of Overnite, and a multi-billionaire.....

look at your own god damned avatar and fedex...see the tiny circles R...???

it's a registered trademark/name.....

A trademark provides legal protection to brands by providing exclusive rights to the owner to use the mark to promote goods and services. ... For example McDonalds' famous Golden Arches is a protected trademark U.S. Registration No. 1753026 filed in international class 043 for restaurant services.

so yeah, go ahead and use anything McDonald's, you will of course get sued.

and in all actuality, they are different

Prime Inc (prime trucking)

Prime (Amazon)

what's next, prime cut meats..???

prime a fuel pump..??

prime time tv..???

My old boss had a company with about 10 trucks at the time and
it was called TNT.
There was another pretty big company that became TNT.

My boss had the name first but he had to change it. I asked him why he would have to change his companies name when he had it first?
My Boss said, "they have more money than I do".

Prime is just a service Amazon offers. They aren't actually calling it Prime Trucking. It's just advertising their premium subscription service.

Prime.com Inc is gonna be told to kick rocks.

i just looked that up, TNT was an LTL carrier many decades ago.

they are now under the FedEx name....

yeah, they had a big terminal up in MA, across the street from Yellow..in fact, nearly all the LTL companies were like in a 20 mile radius, no want for a job search back then.
Bunch of LTLs are huddled together here too. Not even 20 miles apart. Old Dominion is right behind ABF and YRF is across the road.

I guess the lanes only make sense to run a certain way.
