Plenty of Loads...Not enough quality carriers

I have noticed that Allen Lund is using illegal lines in the Rate sheets.
For example " If no check call from driver, may be no payment"
They say that we pay in 14 days but has never been less than 4 weeks.
They will post a load from an area that has no tolls and when you call to book the load, they will say its only 25 mile from that town.
Anyway it ended up to be $1250 for 1000 miles from Monroe Twp NJ to College Prk GA and coming back up was Calhoun GA to Westfield MA
which was 1150 miles for $2150 it was again an Allen Lund agent. This was after George Washington Toll hike. Good or Bad ???

You hauled that for that rate? I got a load on right now from Massena NY, 3 stopper finals in Philly, 450 miles for $2,200 to truck, and I almost didn't take it because it didn't pay enough to deal with PA. There would not be any cheap freight if people refused to haul it.

My company books cheap freight sometimes and I turn it down. They regret this whole "no forced dispatch" thing and they'd get rid of it if the owner would let them.

As long as we're paid percentage, we will have a "no forced dispatch" policy. It's only fair.

No. I went to my text file I keep some photo URL's on, copied the URL, came back here and forgot I'd already gone to a different thread. I posted it then realized it was the wrong thread. It was supposed to be the "count to a million" thread. But I thought my screw-up was funny so I left it. I was extremely tired at the time.

We are a small Florida-based motor carrier with broker authority. We have been successful in finding freight - primarily produce and plants, however we have been unable to recruit and maintain quality and reliable owner-operators...especially those with their own trailers...we've recently had to turn away loads. We even offer Quick Pay and invoice factoring...We have also contracted several broker agents over the past six months who have great resumes and say all the right things during interviews but no one seems to have what it takes to get out there and produce. Any thoughts?
Whats makes a good broker, Thief, arrogant, cheater, abusive of some ones sittuation, (or may be an undercover company supplying with the carriers personal information about hurting points)and many other similar characteristics.
Here's what JB Hunt told us when we called for a load,
"When we call to book a load which is listed by JB Hunt , the answer from them is that your Motor Carrier authority is not at least a year old, and that is JB hunt's policy. But I have seen many other O/O with the same authority but newer than mine picking up JB Hunts loads. Question is about the policy which one is wright. Pleae call JB hunt and ask them about the above.

I have been in business for almost for two yrears, I have yet to see an honest broker who has some class. After holding our truck for hours and hours for load and unload they are cheating us out of detentions and no good rate to beginwith. It appears that as if all these big brokers are useing some kind of undercover force, to secretly supply them with the info, that how much a carrier is financially hurting. I have been told by Landstar a rate of $1200 to go to North Jersey from Atlanta GA on a good L/T ration day. I was their for four day before I gave up and took a load for $1400 for North Jersey. approx 1000 miles. I have been told by many carriers that the rate comming out of Atlanta GA is usually better than $2.5-3.0/mile to North East.

So, why don't you do business with those brokers. Unless someone is holding a gun to your head, why do you do business with the brokers you are using if they are screwing you? Their secret force is superior negotiating skills.
