You know... I've never really understood nicotine withdrawal... I've quit twice, once cause I moved out to a farm in the country, and each time I went to town cigs came last on the list of stuff to buy and I had already spent all my money by the time it came to pick them up...

so effectively cold turkey.

Later leaving China for Hong Kong, Cigs are as low as 50c a pack in China, through I smoked $1 or $1.30 brands. in Honkers they were $9 or more, and back in NZ they're up around $19 now with all the tax. I just stopped, couldn't justify spending that much after having them so cheap...

More than a pack a day down to nil from finishing off my last pack I brought over from China.

No withdrawal, no jitters, no craving for a smoke past the point of seeing the price stickers...

Some folks are like that. My old man quit cold turkey. As impressive me as that is, He really impressed me when he took me for a walk and said I was holding my cig like a fag. You look like a girl or gay. Here is how you smoke, If your going to smoke. He took a draw off mine and handed it back. I thought for sure he was going to smoke again. Nope!

Yep, usually 3 times as much as US or NZ tobbacco, Nicotine is the plants defense mechanisim, nicotine is an insecticide, the more bugs trying to eat a plant the more nicotine that plant makes and the stronger the ciggies made from that plants contribution. But it's not just bug bites that cause nicotine levels to grow, it's any sort of stress, low water levels, to much wind, etc etc...

The more pampered and cared for the plant, the lower the nicotine levels. Western tobacco is irrigated, grown with shelterbelt trees around the fields, fertilized, and insecticide drenched...

Chinese tobacco is grown wherever the peasant can fit it, no shelterbelts, thats valuable growing land that can hold a few more plants, no fertiliser unless the farmer takes a dump while weeding, no herbicide, that costs money, irrigation relies on old grandfather carrying buckets around...


So, LOTS more nicotine in Chinese ciggies!

I have had fags from around the world. Let me start over. I have had smokes from around the world, Working at the airport. Russian smoke are pretty strong., But not bad. Italian smokes are pretty good. The ones I like the most are from Trinidad.
Not big on the flavor of American smokes, I am sure that is reciprocal. If I got to get smoke in the U.S. it is Marlboro gold. I started out on Marlie reds but lord have mercy.
The brand I smoke up here is DuMaurier. Pronounced Demory eh. From the other country of Quebec.

You guys are confusing. I don't smoke but use to. I wasn't a heavy smoker but loved my cigars. I will tell you why I quit. I just hope i quit soon enough.
My dad was a 1 to 2 pack a day smoker about 24 years ago he quit cold turkey after smoking for over 30 years. He had been quit for 20 years and had to go into the hospital for surgery. During the pre-exam they found a small spot on his lungs. Did a biopsy and it was cancer. He started cemo but also suffered from Alzheimer's. The cemo set it into high gear. So if he wanted to remember anything or anybody he had to stop the cemo. The doctors gave him 6 months and he lived just over six months. The thing or reason i quit smoking it when he died we all were with him which everyone says is good but we got to watch him gasp for breath for nearly 30 minutes before he past. He did not go peacefully but fought it till the end. I stopped for the chance that I wan't put my family through that experience. it has been over 4 years since he past and I remember every moment. He had a living will so there was nothing we could do. All I say is if you love your family don't take the chance that you would put them through this.
