Non-sensical bitchery from another thread and MNDrivers truck

Buddy of mine had one he didn’t mind for the longest time.

Then fairly quickly the wiring went downhill and he had electrical problems galore.

He’s never been famous for his stellar approach to maintenance but it’s not the first time I’ve heard that about them.

I drove the early VN series and it made me want to quit driving entirely. I’d actually get motion sickness for about the first six months in it. The dash layout being around my knees made me feel like I was going to splatter on the road in front of the truck. The massive windows let so much sunlight into the cab that down south in the summer you’d just BAKE in the damn thing.

The beeping turn signals made me insane but that’s pretty normal now.

The meep meep city horn never should have happened.

The cheapo plastic air horn in the middle of the steering wheel, not even on a cord above...made me crazy too.

The first time I made a turn and the cab flopped over onto its air bags I thought I was crashing and rolling. For me it wasn’t so much a smooth ride and just a floaty, wobbly one.

I don’t know how much they’ve changed since 2000-2001 but if you like yours more power to you and best of luck with it.

But as someone who likes to sit behind a dashboard and not on top of it...eh...not for me.
Curious if yours had the air ride front axle?

I thought Walmart was still getting Freightliners.

I'd buy a 9200 with a Cummins or Series 60 but that's because the International is basically just a wrapper.

Cascadia and International LT.

No more new Paccar products and no big blue western stars anymore either.

Used to be for the 4 million mile guys they’d buy them any truck they’d want in the world so long as it could get in and out of stores, but that’s gone too.

When our guy reached 4 million he took the cash payout instead. He said the capital gains was painful.

I don’t remember if it did but I do remember talk of a 7 foot long front leaf spring...
I know with my century, the body roll was horrible to get used to. This Volvo is a bit better. But I think the lower profile of a midroof be a condo helps.

I know the 780 that @Ranger_375 Had was much worse than the 730 we now both drive.

You USED to drive cool trucks

Ive driven everything from brand new to total junk, filthy to shave in the chrome, rough and rattling to smooth and silent.

I don’t care anymore.

A truck needs a motor, lights, brakes, and a direction, and a decent paycheck at the end of it all.

This occupation is no longer my sole focus.

Im sure they’ve made improvements. For all I know these days if I hopped in one tomorrow I might love it.

How’s your MPG?

I've mostly driven day cabs. I just need a good alignment and shocks.

Not impressed. I've been talking spot with @Mike. Mine has been just sucking on the mpg. My trip recently from Minneapolis to Boise was 4-4.3 mpg.

I got to Boise and took it to the dealer and it had a bad EGR cooler discharge hose leaking. Replaced it under warranty and the trip home showed 7 mpg. Def was down to 75 mpg.

With a tight air system again, my mpg is back up to 7 mpg fuel and 200 mpg def. That's about where @Ranger_375 is too with his. He's running a direct tranny and 2.47 gears and I've got an od transmission and 3.08 gears. I cruise mostly about 65-66 mph.

i bought the 2016 Volvo's as those and newer were supposed to be some of the best fuel economy trucks out there. I was hoping for 7 mpg annual average. The next three years will show. I'm not impressed. It's getting so you had best be on top of the fuel economy game or you'll be sucking hind teat.

Time will tell.

You can put me on ignore any time

Yeah, here’s thing “old school” thing you may never have been informed of there, junior.

You didn’t talk shit about people’s equipment when I was a kid.

Maybe a man had a shit brown and orange GMC Astro with white steel wheels. If the truck was his, you respected that.

If you didn’t like it, you just kept your mouth shut.

Try that.
Also, quit reporting people for trolling when you’re actually doing little else other than trolling.

We’ve tolerated you because 1- there’s no rules against being a douche in this forum, and some of us excel at it. But we also know when and where it’s appropriate. You seem to lack that knowledge. And because 2- for all this stupid crap you’re pulling, you’ve often started some decent trucking related threads.

But lately, one of these points is eclipsing the other.

In just the last 2 days I’ve deleted posts where you called people pedophiles and insulted wives. And yes I’m saying this publicly, which @Mike wouldn’t like but...meh.

Figure it out. You’re about gone.

Again.

Point taken

However if I owned that ugly Astro I wouldn’t be posting pics of it and bragging over it

And if it wasn’t set up for flatbed work properly I wouldn’t be posting pics of it hooked to a deck

I even tried giving the guy some advice on how to set it up better in one thread. He used to pull a reefer so maybe he doesn’t know what’s he’s doing’s for flatbed work, I don’t know. I DID try to help the guy.
