News nation just reported that the government wants to lower the age to 16 to get a CDL

Do you bitch about foreigners taking jobs?

If so this is why. Kids who actually want to choose it early on can't because everyone wants them to wait until it's too late. They need to make a living in the meantime, and they're not likely to uproot themselves once they have something good with a pension and a family and a mortgage just to get into trucking.
i bitch about everything...

what else is new with you..???

I don't even want to see them at 18.

There isn't a driver shortage, there is a pay shortage.
i don't want to see them in the tesla truck:oops:
there isn't a driver shortage!!! there's a shortage of good drivers with common sense and not rocks for brains
the pay is like from the 70's still might as well call truckers sweat shops on wheels:mad:

There are enough middle age idiots out here that I'm not sure age matters anymore.
I can get a job..

Even have an "Impeccable" MVR if that tells ya anything..

Now my "DAC" Report is an entirely "Different" Story..

Yet the "DAC" Report doesn't matter nearly as much anymore like it did 10/15 years ago ..

Today they need "@$$es" Filling Seats all across the Industry..

One of these days I might even try Wal-Mart ..

Heard they are offering Hundred Grand "First Year"..

If nothing else just see if theyd "Accept" ME

Well the fired @Sinister for scuffing a hood so I'd say you're a shoe in.

Yeah the pay thing is real. I mean there's some stuff that isn't worth doing no matter what, and money isn't actually everything, but it's amazing how these loads you can't cover are suddenly easy to cover once you offer real dollars.

The paper loads I'm running now I absolutely despised before. Because the time and fuel was not compensated properly.

Now they actually pay, and I can enjoy the slow roads as scenery rather than a frustrating clock killer. To the point I'm kind of annoyed when I don't do them, because I'd actually rather NOT be on the interstates around here.

I told her straight up if these are bread and butter like you claim, and XPO really wants this client to stay happy, and the client loves me up there (both managers coming out to greet me and say welcome back) and the big manager seeing me struggle with messed up tandems, and coming out to say don't worry about it we'll load it anyway don't kill yourself, they need to stick with the pay as it is because I'm happy to run it daily indefinitely. Start playing with the rate and pit drivers against each other, and I'm out.

Schneider just welcomed my authority aboard yesterday, about a week ahead of schedule.

So my options are growing again.

Ya but I "probably" wouldn't Like It guessing for 100k you'd have Run your @$$ off like no tomorrow..

Also when I'm old "Sick" & Broke was hoping Walmart let me be a Door Greeter someday to "Supplement" my Social Security Income..

Don't wanna screw that up with em by taking a Trucking Job..

I'll wait another 15 years and "Have" the OPPORTUNITY

Like @Electric Chicken said some stuff that isn't worth doing. Sure you could hop in a UPS 6 wheel delivery truck and make good money but you are going to work your ass off for every dime.

Nope! Not doing the slip seating thing. What year is it in Wally world? 1950?

Every OTR company that I ever worked for wanted to give me a home away from home when I was away from home.

My friend has one of those coveted FedEx company hourly pension P&D jobs. She's driving a 2 axle stub that wants to do a parked Regen every day because the filter is plugged and they're too cheap to clean or replace it. They have the schedule so tight that you're forced to bust ass while loading and unloading with a manual pallet jack.

She's hating every minute of it.

I hear ya!
Life is short.
Work to live. Don't live to work.
You can't take it with you anyways.

Signed, Gen-X slacker.

Yeah she's trying to buy a truck identical to mine. Literally the same from the same place except shorter wheelbase (would have been a flatbed rather than quarry blower truck).

Prices are stupid, rates are bad, but she's wanting out something fierce.

I've been telling her for years don't buy a day cab, let alone one with no aero stuff on it, but you know women...they're bullheaded.

If I knew for a fact my truck wasn't leaking coolant I'd sell it to her and buy that RV style sleeper W900 around the corner from me.
