A massive new paid truck parking facility is set to open next month in West Dundee, offering 1,000 secure parking spaces for lease. This could be a game-changer for truckers in the Chicago area. What are your thoughts on paid parking solutions like this? Will it help solve the ongoing truck parking shortage?

It would be a game changer because most of the truckers alive today parked outside of Chicago like Benton Harbor in another state and then made their way into Chicago at daylight. Unless you really got stuck in Chicago and had to park at one of the Oasis areas they have.
I have heard of drivers thinking it was a good idea to park on a side street in Chicago and they woke up dead.
The only place I would sleep near there was up in Bentonville at a customers a ways away from Chicago.

Because I was OTR, if I was delivering in Chicago, it was my load home for the weekend.

I'd usually have to camp out in Chicago because I'd get there the night before. Or, if I ran through the night, I used to go home (50 miles) after delivering but then when they got E-logs I'd usually be out of hours and have to sleep all day.

There are lots of places to park and sleep in Chicago but off the top of my head the only place I recall is this place called Tulsa Power on Ashland.

It's a gas station that also does reefer washouts and sells propane. If you get a washout, you can park overnight among a bunch of dropped trailers.

The Chicago Police Department has a contract with them. Every few minutes there's a cop there getting gas for his patrol car. That's why it's safe, and you never even get bothered by beggars and Kamalas.
