My truck met it's cousin today, and I now have buyers remorse.

So, I parked today at the Love's in Willow Springs, MO. My hope was to deliver this load today, so I rushed, and finally made contact with the receiver to find out that I woke up early and rushed here for nothing. My customer has a son who is getting married today..

Anyway......

I went inside earlier, came back outside to see a truck parked by me that was the identical color as mine.

Just one difference, it was a Western Star.

I cried a little when I looked at it. My truck cried a little because it seen me crying.

His truck looked good wearing my truck's clothes.

I'm a truck pervert, the end....

I didn't realize trucks had relatives.

More like Walmart vs Sam's Club.
Invalid comparison.

Base retail for individuals vs wholesale geared toward bulk buying and businesses. Totally separate companies. We barely even touch their freight anymore and I don't mind a bit. Far as I'm concerned it's third party garbage and I'm too good for it.

That's your trucks rich uncle that lives a ways away but doesn't really talk to the rest of the family.

You wear pajamas to Walmart. He doesn't set foot in a Walmart.

That sort of thing.

Actually, I was the smart rich uncle and just longed for a minute to be the cheap showy trash, LOL.

As usual, it was a person who spent too much on the truck name. No APU, no tank heaters, no lounge in the sleeper, basic insulation, etc.. and on top of it all, he had a 505hp motor, but with 1650 torque, because it wasn't worth it to get the 1750 torque setup.

He liked my bumper as well, saying it would have likely prevented him from being hit by another driver at a truck stop. This is true because I have had a few people take a 2nd look when backing in once they realize that they may total their trailer if they hit me, LOL.

So, yeah. I'm the less muscular looking nerd that ends up being the guy who gets all the chicks.

Still, I'm getting the Western Star next time. With all the cool stuff.

I have over 1700 torque in my jalopy...

Probably the key to my suck sess.

This truck has 1750. The 12.7 in my last truck was 1650. Both 500 HP engines. Before the rebuild of my old truck, it was clearly more powerful thatn what I have now. Once it was rebuilt to stock specs, my new truck clearly has more pulling power.

I would have had a 2016 Western Star 5700 sleeper instead of this Mack if I had half a brain and asked my bank for the money.

I already thought they were taking a chance on me with the Mack though.

I don't have anything to compare to. Supposedly our Schneider rail day cabs were speced with 505 hp but the way they neutered them it was moot.

We were slow as molasses but we could maintain it pretty good so I guess there's some truth to it.

Your bank, that is the only important point of that post.

Getting the next truck will be no problem at all because that is where you will be approaching that next move.

Probably not a big deal.

If you have the torque, you can pull the hill, for the most part. My truck is 505 HP, but that HP doesn't come until over 1500 RPM. I'm pulling hills at lower RPM's for fuel efficiency. I could accelerate and get the revs up and go to the next gear, but doesn't make sense.

Our trucks are advertised as 425-485. I was impressed but they are nutted down to something stupid.

Yeah I asked the loan officer if they'd be okay with bigger dollars in the future and she said yeah as long as I can handle this one.

She gave it to me at 6% and nothing down, so I'm figuring she at least has some faith in me..

The truck loan whatever loan shark fiasco place out of Texas I had talked to the same week wanted me to put 20% down and finance me at 18%.

My bank is literally on the same street as my house, half a mile away.

All in all it's a better situation.

You're too late. 4900/5700 cab is done. No new orders on 5700, and they've canceled some existing orders. Next gen of Stars will be based on the Crapcadia cab with a different hood. Look up 49X.

Not sure where that leaves us carhaulers. The x cab is too tall, and they're unlikely to re-engineer a different cab for such a small niche.
