Michigan, fix your roads!!

I wish there was a way to look up delays due to road construction, to better help trip plan

Google Maps works very well for this. My Garmin also gets traffic info via an app on my phone what will adjust my ETA as well as reroute if a faster route is available.

I meant trip planning from the start, not while en route. Unless that’s what you’re talking about

To go from London On to Columbus OH it’s faster to cross at Sarnia and go down I94 to I75, for example.

Except when I75 was shut last year, and Detroit was a 3 hour backup.

Then it made more sense to cross into New York

Same when they were redoing I94 in Indiana the year before that. Faster to run the UP even if it is more miles.

Those friggin’ lakes get in the road, all the time. That’s all I do is drive around lakes.

Referring to from the start, as well as en route.

At the beginning, big delays will sometimes provide a different route.

En route, delays will sometimes result in a new route.

I regularly check my route on Google Maos to see if there are any issues as far ahead as possible.

It’s not foolproof, but it helps prevent many delays.

Google Maps has the a better product for passing along construction delays than the GPS vendors in my opinion. You have to turn on the traffic overlay each time you open the app though.

I use both the Rand McNally GPS and Google Maps product for evaluating real time traffic delays. Google Maps will show whether it's an accident or whatever, but the GPS product appears to be updated more frequently. The Rand McNally 740 I'm using can also provide updated routing if you choose to enable that function.
