Mega Carrier Celadon Group to File Bankruptcy, Cease Operations

Indianapolis, IN – One of the largest publicly-traded transportation companies in the United States, Celadon Group, is expected to file bankruptcy as soon as Sunday, December 8.

Sources with direct knowledge of the situation told Transportation Nation Network (TNN) on Friday evening that the troubled Indianapolis, IN-based mega carrier will cease operations beginning Monday, December 9.

Celadon began notifying customers on Thursday, December 5 the company would soon be filing bankruptcy and no longer be servicing accounts.

I find it a shame for folks to close before Christmas. That’s really sad and I pray those drivers find jobs quickly and can continue to support their families.

With the embezzlement and fraud it doesn’t surprise me. Maybe they file and close under one name and reopen another under a different to remove the black eye? Who knows.

if you worked for Celadon, and this is happening, would you trust the new company, owned by the same people, and go back to work for them.???

the old saying, "once burnt, once learnt" should apply to all soon to be, former workers.

While I understand your sentiment, my understand of reading the fraud article is that those members are no longner employees and are facing criminal charges.

A friend of mines wife embezzled money from an orthopedic clinic, she took quite a bit of money and covered it up. It took them years to figure out she was doing it. She was charged. Does that mean the orthopedic clinic is a bad place because they had a criminal accountant? No.
 
How can the file a legal proceeding on a Sunday when nothing’s open?

Hopefully they don’t strand tons of drivers and get them all back to decent locations.

i would never trust any situation...no one knows for sure how many were involved, maybe those caught were "fall guys"

i read another website that had nearly the same message about the fuel cards. i have to wonder how much fuel will be allowed at each purchase? and/or if pre-authorization would be needed. then too, how many truck stops will allow the fuel cards, knowing that they are going out of business?

Well "back on" means they are activated to work. It means they talked to whoever is in control of it. Any truck stop that accepted their card before should accept it now.
 
They probably just threw a few G's on the cards to get the trucks returned. Still no word on whether they are providing transportation for drivers who bring their trucks to the Indy yard.

that's no guarantee. there are corporate owned truck stops, and franchise owned stops. maybe the corporate owned can take a chance, but a franchisee..?? they are already stacked in thier own debt.

and just because they are re-activated, what does that really mean, fill ups or say 100 gallons each time?

still no matter what, those drivers are driving trucks that need to get back to a terminal, or home, and let the company chase after the equipment

I'm pretty sure TCH is prepaid.

Cuz one time ours were shut off, and we got like 80 messages on the Qualcomm saying it's because the permits/fuel/vehicle insurance lady screwed up and didn't put money on it. Then there was another one saying she put 50 grand on it or something, or something, I keep saying "or something" because I know it pisses someone off,.. Blah blah and blah.

ok, i cannot recall what cards i have had over the years. i cannot recall if any were pre-paid or just like charge cards..for a few years now, we get onsite fueling so no fuel card so to speak, but a credit card for oil or Coolant, or DEF if we need it on the road. (and that has a $50.00 limit.....) but our fueling supplier has those as well. So does the Penske shop, where we get that stuff for free.
