Massachusetts leaders push for tougher truck laws

Pursuit has been renewed in Massachusetts to change the state’s truck laws and raise standards for commercial driver’s licenses above the minimum requirements of federal law

Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack told the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Transportation on the first full day of the new session that action needs to be taken to address concerns about CDL licensing in the state.

The meeting marks the third time since July 2019 she has provided testimony to the panel on the issue of tougher truck laws.

many states have a probationary drivers license now, at least for the teens. i cannot say if there is a probationary license for people over 21. what is a problem in any state, is that anyone can teach a kid to drive.

of course, now, that kid gets to learn all the stupid stuff right out the gate.

unless mandatory driver training is done for first timers, with a certified driving school, we will always have morons getting thier first drivers licenses.

too many teens should not be driving as well, nor ever be allowed to obtain a drivers license.

but, of course, that's gonna be shot down by all the voters, who have an elected official(s) even dreaming up such restrictions.

but for CDL holders, being a very small minority, we are so very easily contained.

and there you go. years ago, if one nearly crashed, forgot to use a turn signal, went above the speed limit, or went beyond the stop line at a stop sign, INSTANT failure, come back in 10 days.

Also, they require wheel chocks on ALL parked semis.

Every now and then the staties will go upon the turnpike and collect revenue from that.
