Looking for a Truck Driving Job

Hello all. Thanks for reading my thread. I went to truck driving school for 6 weeks and got my CDL class A licence with all endorsements except passenger bus and school bus. I do have haz-mat on there. Seems like everyone needs at least 6 months or one year of verifiable over the road experience. I am trying to line up employment but find it very hard to get started in the industry. I know the economy is pretty bad right now. Was hoping someone might be able to offer some advice. Have a perfectly clean driving record. 55 years old with a wonderful family. Right now I am on un-employment and have a past history of factory work operating, setting up and working with industrial robotics and CNC equipment. I am laid off from Crown Fork lift right now. Any replies will be read with a thankful heart. Wish you all well and safety on the road.

Ben i know the feeling getting laid off happened to me twice so u went to truck driving school and cant find a job huh well of course they want experience youre going to have to start from ground zero and drive for a training company the first yr in the trucking industry is the worst and the hardest but thats what youre going to have to do once u get that yr in youll find much better companies

Hello coachman. Thanks for replying to my post. I live just over 100 miles from Cincinatti. Closest city to here would be Lima, Ohio. I'm way out here in nowhere land. My previous employment transferred me here and I got married in this town and been stuck here ever since. I would like to thank you for trying to help me to find a job driving truck. Wish you well. Ben

Check into Interstate Distributors they (last i knew) ran all or most of the transportation logistic at the Kohl's DC in Findlay. I know they do training so maybe they'll take a driver with no exp...

Another thought would be Schneider as they run the P&G plant there in Lima, they also have their own rail yard in Marion...when I worked for them they were always hiring for regional drivers to haul containers around Ohio out of there!
