Ok.I have a cobra 29 ltd chrome,Ok after you finish laughing. The needle does not move when I key the mic,the ant light does not light up and never has.I put the company C.B. back in jist get by.It works.
I'm guessing microphone, or, microphone connection. When you key down the mic there should be some reaction, but, you say there isn't. The signal is not making the trip from the mic to the radio.
Right, but shouldn't the transmit light, green I think, light?
My first guess would be the mic as well. Where do you have your gain set? When you open the squelch all the way, do you get static? The CB/PA switch, is it on CB? Stupid questions maybe, but like I said elsewhere, electronics hate me.
In my pickup, I have a PC78Elite, mounted just in front of the centre seat, 40/20/40 seats. Every so often, one of the dogs steps on the radio and screws up all my settings. Mine acted like that, but once I readjusted every thing, it works again.

I have a Cobre 29 WX NW ST, how are those two light supposed to work. When I have the Sound Tracker is on, the light is Red. When Sound Tracker is off, the light is off. That makes sense. When the radio is on, the RX/TX/WX light is Green, when I key the mike it turns Red. Is this correct?

On that PC78 I mentioned, the light is green. If when transmitting it turns red, it means my SWR's are high, and/or antenna problems. I don't know if that holds true for all radios though.
Thank you all for the responses. It's in a kw T660 Company truck so as far as the Coax goes it could be factory stock and five yrs old.I have been using the company supplied radio in the mean time but with my mic from my cobra.I Will have to put my radio back in again and try some of the above suggestions. The Truck is also a Paccar lease so I don't know if I can switch out the coax or if Paccar would even switch it out and check the match on the antenna's.
The compay radio works ok but it doesn't have the range.
Sorry I didn't get back to own thread right away I was on the road and without internet.
Could you try your mic on the company radio? I don't think the factory coax are that good. Something you can try, take the mounts apart on the antennas, and clean them up with some Scotchbrite or fine emery cloth. On the T6 I had, that's what I did. It was surprising the corrosion that was there.

LOL.Thanks for the reminder.I almost forgot I have the Uniden peeked and tuned but the internal speaker is broke,But the truck has an external speaker.Maybe I will dust the old girl off and see if she still works the way I remember.
Damn! either I'm hard on radio's or they don't make 'em like they used to.I hear guys out there that "say" They are talking on radios from the 80's and 90's and they sound good!
