Is there anyway to change a laptop keyboard lf so how ?My keyboard ls toast.Im using on screen keyboard and not liking it.

buy a desktop keyboard with a ( usb ) plug should work just fine :holdflag: most eletronics stores should have em and there inexspensive

i think that would work too. and they aint very expensive. hp has some pretty good sales going on for all there computers.i got an e-mail just today from them.

ide be carefull with HP there having finacial trouble and kodak to. but yea providing her laptop has usb ports then it will work. did that with my viao after i crashed the space bar from gaming lol.

im sure they can be changed out patty. anything on a computer is fixable.

They can but it's an overwhelming pain in the ass. I'd end up getting ****ed and smashing it. This desktop PC I'm using now, I built the dang thing myself in 2003. I've taken it apart and upgraded stuff a bunch of times. I'm not afraid of it. But I ain't touching no laptop.

Laptop hard drives and usually the RAM come out real easy, but other than that, it ain't worth the trouble. Either take it to a geek somewhere or buy a new laptop.

You can use an external keyboard though. The cheapest ones are probably $10 these days. My laptop has USBs on it and it's also got that other type of port on it for keyboard/mouse.

find some local computer shop, i know how to change out the key board it is easy to do but a lot harder to explain how to do it,it should only take them about 15 minutes to do it in most cases provided they have the keyboard on hand and if you get lucky they have a used one on hand that you can buy at a cheap price, while they have the top off have them blow out the accumulated crap that will surely be there.

how do i remove keyboard?pound it a few times?lol

That's how I'd do it. Pound on it, use a pry-bar. Sledge hammer, etc. That's my universal fix-all solution for any Windows laptop. Running it over with a steer tire or executing it by firing squad are other options I've considered.

I can imagine how much they charge.I got a keyboard with a usb port thanks to rubber duck? It'll take getting use to because the mouse on the computer. But hey beats using the on screen keyboard.

No, it was krelithous who suggested the external keyboard.

But if the laptop's touch-pad mouse thingy is too awkward to use while using an external USB keyboard, you can also get a regular mouse to go with it. How many USB ports does your laptop have? Is your Verizon thingy typing one up? If you only have two USB ports and your Verizon doogely uses one, you'll have to get a cheap little USB hub so you can use a mouse and keyboard with only one USB port.

It seems like a lot of trouble, setting all that stuff up in the truck every time you want to get online. I'd just take the laptop in and have 'em slap a new keyboard on it.

My verizon is wireless which I really like. All I do is charge it and turn it on.Sprint had a modeum that goes into the port and I have hit that thing so many times.I have 3 usb ports.I'm starting to get use to the keyboard now and thanks krelhousous for suggesting the external keyboard.I keep forghetting the other keyboard is shot so im typing and every sentence looks like 1 words with alot of o's,LOL

Just for the hell of it, take your laptop, turn it OFF (OFF, unplugged and remove the battery to make sure the hard drive is not spinning) hold it upside down and slap the bottom of the laptop with your hand and see how much dust and fingernail clippings and stuff falls out. Don't beat the hell out of it, just give it a few good slaps and see what happens.

If a lot of crap falls out when you do that, fire it up and try using it's built-in keyboard again.

Just don't ever jar or bang on a laptop while it's running cuz the hard drive spins at 7200 RPM and if you hit it too hard while it's spinning, it'll destroy the hard drive. (Gyroscopic forces, blah blah blah...)

LOL I did that yesterday well not shake the dust out but reseated the battery. What happened is soda pop spilled on the keyboard. Not much but enough to ruin it.Actually I keep this laptop clean.
