hello........

im thinking of going to work for snider, but i've never pulled a box,

all i've ever done is pull tankers, chemical haz-mat. 30 years.

just thinking of getting lost in the system, not knowing everybody in the companys familey,

i've always worked for small companys.

just thinking of going to a huge company, where i dont know who drives what truck and their wifes name. but ? it kinda scares me, horror storys i've heard for years about lumpers, sitting for day's at a dock, having to count freight, re-stacking the whole load because the checker is an asshat. etc....

those box trucks sure look tall. and long, at least with a tanker i could get under anything, chicago was a breeze...lol

hows snider to work for ?

You have 30 years pulling a tanker, I imagine freight hauling will be a walk in the park. Trailers are a little longer, and you do a little more backing.

Schneider has a bulk division, any specific reason you are moving away from tanker yanking?

a walk in the park...hummm..

tanking is fine, but its all i know.

schneider would hire me for tank's, [said they would] but i dont live where they want me too. so no go there, they asked if i'ed be interested in a box, but ???????????????????????

i'ed have to move to st.louis, thats not an option.[for the tankers]

[wouldn't live there anyway]

truthfully, i'ed about kill, just to get OUT of a truck, 4 million miles of being gone, makes ya kinda jaded, i dont hate truckin, i just dont like it.

tired of it. ...but ? on the other hand . obamababys free money is about to run out, so ...gotta eat.

and theirs not a job of anything else in a hundred mile radius of here,

so its back to trucking we'll go...

Well, I have done both, currently pull a tank. Outside of a 5 more feet in length, you have nothing to worry about. And, you can slide the axles on those dry boxes, which almost neutralizes that extra length.

99% of the customers you go to will have more room than a typical Pilot Truck stop, so if you can back in at the truck stop, you will have no issues there.

You won't have to drag those heavy ass hoses around, but you will have to be aware of the wind when you open up the trailer doors. From there, you just back in and let somebody else offload the product.

I have pulled flatbeds, reefers, dry boxes, doubles, and tanks. It seriously doesn't get any easier than yanking a dry box around.

hey thanks bullwinkel... can i ask ? who your pulling for ?

i mostly pulled for monsanto, last few years, herbicides, not bad...''IF'' you can putt up with monsantos BS, .. i'ed just grin and go on my way...
all we used was meters and two inch hoses, pretty eazy,

so ? u dont touch nothing ? with a box ? the storys are false ?

i used to pull propane into swift packing, IBP, meat houses, but with my tank, they'ed just wave me in, i'ed be gone in one hour, some of those poor guys on a box or reefer was out there in the lot, for day's ....

thats why im kinda scared of the box's.

You do sit at times with a box, but not often, especially with a dry box. And with Schneider, you are pulling a high percentage of drop and hook freight.

I pull a tank for Service Lines, which is a affiliate of Quality Carriers. I note the separation of names because we don't haul Quality Carriers freight. We simply pay a fee to use their name. We just took over the hauling for an additional plant, and we are getting 15 new trailers in January to dedicate to this place, which means more trucks and more drivers.

Where in Missouri?

I don't know anybody that works for other Quality Carriers terminals. Like I said, we run our own freight, and basically never encounter the other terminals. We load up, go deliver, and deadhead back to the yard 99% of the time.

im a 140 miles southeast of K/C . north of warsaw. i liked the deadhead back, knew what you was doing.

for a while had a pete large car, with a 4x5 , dang thing got 8-9 miles to the gallon, empty.

Rather than have you call them, I am going to talk to the terminal manager and see if you are in an optimal location. We do have a couple drivers in Missouri, which we hired due to a food grade contract we took on last year. We also have some regular loads going into Missouri from our newest contract.

I will PM you with the info, might be a few days though. If the location is good, it would be better hometime though. Not as good as our local area drivers, but still better than running all over the United States. I don't go into Missouri much though, so not sure where all we are going there.
