I'm done

it's not like he can't register it as an RV and drive it to work everyday:rolleyes: so he can honk the horn and make loud engine noises:D

Nothing against you but there is no RV registration. A truck is registered just like a pickup truck. Plain old plates. Nothing special. If you're not using it for commercial use you don't need a CDL, medical or anything else. I have plenty of friends in the horse field. Many have their own semi to tow the horse trailers. Once again, nothing special needed

Well, it's been about 3 weeks since I came home and started back at my old job. My weight is starting to come off even though I'm not trying. Not sure how much I walk during the workday but I'm sure it's at least a few miles. Many of the people here are face to face in your office instead of email.

For the first 2 weeks my feet hurt, my calf's hurt and I would cramp up big time near the end of the day. Was not use to walking so much. Everyone said I was hunched over when I walked but not anymore. I was taking 800mg of Ibuprofen twice a day.

Other unmentionable problems have also disappeared. My skin has dried up big time from now being able to take a shower ever day. Except this weekend, I didn't shower or shave at all because I didn't feel like it. My hang overs have returned. Not sure why.

This right here is much of what I explain to the wife. I can walk a mile a day, but that is nothing compared to the movement a normal person has when they don't drive a truck OTR. By the time a person truly realizes what kind of toll driving can have on your body, it is often too late. It's also why any new driver needs to adopt a really good exercise program and diet from day one.

I can take a week off from the truck, and by the end of that week, I feel far better.

That never happened with me. When I got home I was totally consumed with fixing this and doing that and it all involved the truck or trailer in some way. When I headed back out after a week home it was like a vacation the first day or so before a load so I could relax.

Thanks!

I had way more free time on the road then now. I come home I'm so tired I don't feel like doing anything. I've been home for like 2 weeks and haven't cooked at all yet. Everything is pre-cooked from grocery market or frozen meals that get microwaved. Under the gun right off the bat at work. It's like they thought I was on vacation and now that I'm back it's business as usual like I should know everything that's going on even after 4 years. I've been driving for 10 but they called me back twice hence the 4 years last time.

Things have changed for sure in that time. Getting rid of my 200 CD changer and replaced with my tiny old Ipod that can hold 40,000 songs. Got the 250gig model. Sick of the surround sound and 8 speakers and just going to use the speaker in my TV. We've gone free WIFI in my condo complex so no more fees for cable network. No need for special channels on my cable and the extra fee. HDMI from my phone to TV with unlimited data. No wires. Bluetooth speakers. Next I'll be wearing a hat with an antenna on top. Still like my DVD's though!!! Guy at work trying to convince me to rip them all to a small box that can hold 1,000 movies.

Well, it's been 8 months and we are now shipping the product I came back to do. I got a lot of push back from new employees who were thinking who the Hell is this guy just waltzing in and telling people what to do. The older people who knew me knew I was in charge of the project and did whatever I wanted politely. I lost it early on when some techs were giving me a hard time. I started yelling at everyone. I'M IN CHARGE OF THIS PROJECT. IF YOU GET IN MY WAY I'LL EITHER GO AROUND YOU OR STEP ON YOU. Just at that moment the owner of the company walked around the corner. He didn't even stop making the turn and pretty much did a 360 and walked away. That was a good thing!

I have 3 projects that I can take on at the moment but just sitting around reading CNN and other stuff all week waiting to hear anything from 4 units that were shipped out last week.

So I'm back to the same routine I was doing before I got into trucking. Work, eat, sleep repeat. Same thing every day. I sit around thinking of stuff to buy and have delivered from Amazon. I love Amazon! I don't go to stores anymore. I buy everything no matter how small online.

I still haven't cleaned out my truck except for what I wanted right away. Other then that I think I've been down to it twice. My mechanic has been fiddling with it fixing little things here and there. My 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee engine blew up last month. I was like WTF? it's only 17 years old. Bought another one. White this time. V8 of course.

The owners son in law works at the lab. He has a PhD in fluid dynamics. His specialty is making a diesel engine more efficient. Not small engines. Ones that are used in like large ships. Increasing fuel economy by 1% is a huge deal. I made the mistake of asking how? In a nutshell it involves keeping some temp right at a very precise level or something like that. He use to work in a large lab in Switzerland. He's pretty cool and has a wicked sense of humor which is not normal for most of the scientists here.

Now that the cold weather is here I'm back to getting the crap scared out of me. We have 3 places in the building that have 500 pound tanks of liquid nitrogen. Since I'm the first in I turn the heat up. When those tanks get warm enough the high pressure release valve lets go. It's like their human and say, here he comes with his coffee, ready......let go!!! It's not a gentle thing, it's all at once. There's a special insulated blast blanket hanging there or your arm would freeze and fall off.

So it's a long weekend with Monday off. Naps, tequila, naps, football, cooking, order shit off Amazon and generally screw off.

I think I'm going to redo the sensor testing station I did 10 years ago. The embedded computer board I used is no longer available so I'm going to use a Windows 7 single board computer instead. These sensors are for CO, Methane, H2S, Ethane and Oxygen. Our sensors go down to one part per million.

Oh, and I'm back to the metric system which I hate but have no choice!

The most fun I have is when they fire up the electronic microscope. Sometimes someone says, go get Steve so he can look at his fingernails before we shut it down. It requires a lot of liquid nitrogen to bring it up to speed. I wish I could post a picture but the pics are on a display that's like 28,000 by 20,000. If we want a picture they have to burn multiple DVD's and send out to a lab to make a print. Cool stuff when you have a tiny cut from picking the skin off the side of your fingernail. It looks like an alien planet. You can see a microscopic particle of blood and it's moving. Tiny creatures roaming around eating you too.

Y'all have a 560 megapixel camera attached to a nitrogen powered electron microscope? ? o_O

That sounds expensive.

If you guys weren't such NERDS you could've spent that money building something cool.

You could be blasting down the alkali flats in a jet powered, monkey navigated super sled gping like Mach 3 & stuff.

Ya, I think is was in the million dollar range. We hire college science students once in a while to count stuff like cells. For what I don't know. The nitrogen is also used to freeze some stuff then they slice it with some high tech slicing machine and the blade is made out of ???obsidian. Too lazy to look it up but it's made out of stone and I'm told just the weight of the tiny blade is enough to cut a finger clean off.

And no, I'm done driving. I may register it as a plain vehicle and drive it around for a bit but plan to sell it and the trailer.
