I need to be Grandfathered

Is it possible to find someone to help me get my CDL? I can't get training through WIA or through any other company, nor can I afford to pay for school. I live in the Atlanta area and I have had a dream of hitting the road for years. Unfortunately my situation (including mistakes made in the past) keeps me from getting free training. Can someone help?

Trucking companies schools cost......you sign your life away. But they should take you maybe............
Alot depends on how bad your mistakes and how long ago.
Some on here can be more help then me, I'm not a fan of everyone turning to trucking, The industry has been over run with every one out of jobs coming to it.
Sorry...............

Grandfathered was a term when the CDL came into place. The drivers that was driving grandfathered in and got their CDL. You are not a driver. You will need to go the school route. Even if you got a CDL on your own very few would hire you because of insurance reasons. To get a job you need recent OTR or to be a recent grad from a approved school. Sounds like your only option is to become a slave to a company for your schooling and right now they are very picky on backgrounds.

Ditto, bad market for drivers now. Recommend a steadier line of work to get beyond the 10 year background check. Most companies will not touch you at all right now.
