I'd go to Buffalo bay MB and fish the mud flats off of warroad MN. The only thing that separate the two is the international border. And do NOT cross it in your boat. 2003 when I spent the summer fishin' up there it was bad enough. It's only gotten more stupid since.I've never been on a guided trip. Me and @cLuCk cLuCk are planning on trying it this summer on Lake of the Woods.
We will use Fred's Beds guide service out of Morris Point. That's who's sleeper houses we use in the winter. I caught my personal bests for walleye and northern there. Haven't seen the pictures since my divorce. Wanted to get silicon mounts made. Ex kept them.
Northern was 42 1/2" and the walleye was 31 3/4".
There are definitely some pig fish up there

Did you have red tape BS to deal with to fish in Canadian waters or were you being an international outlaw? This is where I was fishin'.
The walleye I caught fishin' out of warroad. The northern off Buffalo point.

No different than going across the border any other time.Did you have red tape BS to deal with to fish in Canadian waters or were you being an international outlaw?![]()
Do they have a defined line marked off with bouys and floating poly rope or something? No different than going across the border any other time.
As I was on federal duty with us customs and the army, I was anything but illegal
Nope. You're supposed to be able to read a map and navigate the water ways.Do they have a defined line marked off with bouys and floating poly rope or something?
In 2020 they still expect people to be able to navigate with paper maps?Nope. You're supposed to be able to read a map and navigate the water ways.

Thanks!
Am I reading that right? You were scuba diving in flooded mine pits? Which mines were you in, and how clear was the water... how far could you see?Definitely memory makers.
Now to get something to match them and get mounts made.
I know the iron mines have monster pike in them. Seen them diving.
I’ve been on one with my dad, it was a blast.I've never been on a guided trip. Me and @cLuCk cLuCk are planning on trying it this summer on Lake of the Woods.
Yes. The visibility is easily 60+ feet.Am I reading that right? You were scuba diving in flooded mine pits? Which mines were you in, and how clear was the water... how far could you see?

Pretty cool stuff! I have a brother in AZ that does quite a bit of diving. He was talking about there being a few places in MN that are known for good visibility. Don't recall where he was talking about though. Some day I'd like to try diving, but I've got a pretty long bucket list of things before it, not sure it'll happen!Yes. The visibility is easily 60+ feet.
Believe it or not, it's 12' to the bottom here at the landing.

I don't dive anymore, but I have kept the snorkeling gear so I can retrieve the tackle when It's convenient or for boat issues.

Ouch... sounds painful.I stopped diving after my ex blew her ear drum some 25 years ago.
We were working on our diver certifications that weekend and she couldn't equalize her ears.
