High Blood Pressure May Not Be So "Silent" After All

Which one was that, Viagra?
I've been a a type II diabetic for 20 years. The best blood sugar control I've had since being diagnosed and living a truckers lifestyle is being on a Ketogenic diet. I'm on 3 blood sugar meds - cutting back on one. Passing extra glucose out of your body is hard on the kidneys, so my doc wants extra protection there, thus the BP med. It's a real basic, generic med - nothing exotic. Cholesterol was up a bit the last couple of years, so I succumbed to a statin this year (GRR!)

Actually I feel great, so I'm not displeased where my health is at. Especially when I look at others in my graduating HS class.

Best advice I can give you guys is find a good primary care physician, and start getting a yearly physical by the time you hit 40. Getting a jump on this shit is important since we're living longer. Getting your BP under control early means you don't need that Viagra crap ta get it up.

High BP meds aren't prescribed to "keep you alive," they're prescribed to prevent further damage. What's more stupid? Taking a BP med (that you can easily skip a few days,) or ignoring a condition whose side effects will lead to an early demise?
He's "heard" of a couple of friend's acquaintances who were on BP pills for years and, for whatever reason, stopped taking them and had fatal heart attacks within weeks. Therefore, he won't even start taking them.

I've heard every fucking excuse under the sun. The short story is he refuses to take them.

For information, not everybody can control BP with diet and exercise. It helps, but there are people whose genetics play hard against them. This guy's father died at the age of 35 from a massive heart attack. Several uncles, cousins and great uncles as well.

I'm done fighting with him. He can kill or disable himself if he wants to.

sorta like (from my point of view) the anti-vaccination crowd. like for religious reasons or some conspiracy from the gooberment.

i believe in vaccines to stave off or at least lessen the severity of some disease, while others blatantly or thru thier own beliefs would rather not get the vaccines....and some do die when they get sick.

in the end, would anyone want a body snacther to get sick, while your body was hijacked..???

do they give shots for that...??

when i was about 8 years old(??), dad took me and sis to the national guard armory, for the free polio vaccine, and they gave us sugar cubes to let melt in our mouths, that had the vaccine....

I was wondering the rational of BP meds being addictive. They are not addictive, Make the right choices and one could lower their blood pressure and stop taking BP meds. It is not like one would be hooked on them in the sense of addiction. It would be like using a crutch until a broken leg was healed.
So the question is if you start a blood pressure medication will you become tolerant to the point where you can't later live, or control your blood pressure, without it. The answer is no. The way most blood pressure medications work is to act "for the day" to control body functions that are raising your blood pressure. They do nothing to prevent the next week's blood pressure from rising so they only work while you're on them (plus/minus a couple days since they are still in your system). So if you are thin, don't do cocaine and need blood pressure because genetically you are predisposed to being high, then your BP will rise if you go off of them. However, if your BP is high because you do meth, and then you stop doing the meth (or its high because of obesity and then lose the weight) you might notice not needing the BP med once the secondary cause is removed.

Medical Journals and Doctors across the board have stated that 95% of hypertension is unknown in terms of why it happens and only 5% is known to be from gradual kidney failure.

So how do Dr’s medicate a problem that they can’t exactly pinpoint? By throwing different meds at you in order to cause your body to relax so the pressure isn’t as high which in turn most cases causes loss of energy etc..

Also for some people its the placebo effect where they feel in their mind that this medicine works so ... well it works for them.

The reality is that hypertension is caused by....”tension”.

Tension your body with all those high carbs and sugars from bread to industrialized fast food and sodas etc...

Do arteries stay clogges forever? Do your finger nails stop growing? No because your finger nails are in essence your arteries reproducing new arteries and the nails are the old ones.

Stop with the trashy food A.

B.. find time to relax and meditate a few times a day.

If you slow breath.. hold and release after counting to 5... for 10 minutes... check your BP and see how it lowers.

Finally, remember that just as not everyone has same frame and body so liekwise not everyones bp will fall under the same 130/80 or 120/70 stat. Dont stress if its a little higher or lower. Stress is what you want to avoid.

Most doctors are not going to take the time to find out what is causing it, that was my experience anyway.

Investing a little time and money with the right doctor and you can likely pinpoint it.

I'll be sure to call and tell my doctors to cancel all my appointments now.
