Best advice I could give you would be to educate yourself about the trucking industry...Spend some time on the forum's reading, interacting with others and asking questions..

LoL i thought the monkey part was good. but like she said dig and dig deep. this is just more than a job. it is a life style to most of us out here.it a hard life and you must give it 110%. its no easy path to go down,but when you get it in your blood there no going back to being normal.
I was in your shoes too and I'm 19 now and I highly recommend you get a degree or go to vocational school whether it be in diesel mechanics or business related field get something you can fall back on. Yeah I plan on getting into trucking but I'm getting a management degree as something to fall back on and also use in the future. I also have my eyes set on a political career but that there is just a fantasy.
I'm good with computers and can solve puzzles easily. So i guess i may have to get a degree in computer design or whatever degree those detectives get 
. but nevertheless, I intend on being a truck driver. There's something about it that I can't put my finger on but I must be one when I am 20-21. Also, wouldnt you think getting a degree would make you more in debt than you plan if you want to be an O/O if you probably won't have to fall back on anything in the first place? I mean I know many truckers are getting put out of work but this is something i desire to stick with.

Now if you buy a truck without a degree and don't know what your doing you'll be in debt to your neck and lose everything. Being an owner operator isn't just buying a truck and hauling loads. Also you can get a CDL at 18 but you can only drive within your home state but most companies probably won't hire you until your 21-23 cause of insurance and lack of experience. The only companies who would hire you with a CDL at 18 is a farm operator and maybe a garbage hauling outfit.
