Hauler Needed - Can you Move It?

I need a pallet weighing about 400 pounds transported from Greenville, MI to Fairview, TN. Fairview is located just west of Nashville and only 5 miles off of I-40. I then need a small tractor with a few misc. pieces of equipment picked up at the same location and delivered to Pataskala, OH. near Columbus. Weight for this load is approx. 2,500 pounds. My budget is $500 cash. If anyone is interested please contact me. If my price is out of line, tell me what you will do the job for.

Calling an LTL trucking company would give you an idea.

Can't. I don't own a truck. I just drive the company's truck & go where they tell me, if I feel like going where they tell me. (Sometimes they get crabby if I don't.)
 
Really?? Ain't you got a buddy with a pickup and a regular ol' trailer.? Hell man...a Big Tex trailer with a 2" ball can handle this. 2500 lb...really? Rent something or buy a trailer and go do it yourself. MI is nice this time of year.
 
Go with the $167 quote for the MI-TN part.

For the tractor you'll probably need to call an LTL (Less Than full truckLoad) company or a freight broker.
 
Duck how far off am I?

I ran the miles for this: Greenville to Fairview =642.2 miles
Fairview to Columbus = 411.7 miles
At 2.50 it would be $2634.7
At 1.50 it would be $1602.00
Figure fuel per gallon in Mi. is $3.9999
Figure you fill up both 150 gallons price of fuel is $1197.00.
Now you go from there so your budget of $500.00 will not make a dent.

Note: Rand Mcnally mileage is better source for miles.
 
It would be a waste to run an 18 wheeler for either of these two loads that can be run with a pickup truck.

The $167 quote he got was probably from an LTL or parcel package company that's already got 90% of a trailer full of paying freight that's headed that way.
 
Man I'm a fish out of water here. I don't understand the truckers lingo like LTL. I'm just trying to find the best price I can to get two items moved. It doesn't have to be an 18 wheeler. I'm not asking that my items be the only thing on the truck. I figured there were loads going back and forth that aren't full. I'm just hoping to catch such a truck going in both directions.
 
Have you tried uship.com? It's what the morons on that "Shipping Wars" reality show work for, or book loads from or something.
 
Kind of reminds me of when I had the company back home. I had a woman call me wanting a car shipped from Moncton, NB to California. Told her no, that I didn't travel that far. But I asked why she was shipping a Ford Tiempo to Cali?? Get this, her son was going to college there and couldn't find a car he liked so she was gonna send him hers. :eek:

Say what??? Sonny boy can't find a car in freakin Car Central USA????? She almost had a cow when I told her what it would really cost her. "Oh", she said, "I don't think my husband would pay for that". Ya Think???? "What would you suggest I do?", she asks. Now right here I'm having an awfully hard time being polite. Deep breaths, deep breaths. The thoughts that are running through my mind. :cautious: Finally suggested she talk this whole thing over with her husband.

Some people have just 2 clues.... one is lost and the other is out looking for it.
