Female trucker alleges Walmart’s uniforms are discriminatory

A female driver for Walmart is suing the mega retailer, accusing the company of being discriminatory toward women through its choice of uniforms.

Seeking class action status, a lawsuit in an Alabama federal district court claims that Walmart’s required uniforms pose a financial burden on women drivers. Specifically, the pants are designed to fit men, requiring female drivers to purchase their own pants for comfort. However, the company does not reimburse employees for purchasing work clothes outside of the company.

The Bentonville, Aark.-based retailer requires drivers to wear specific pants and shirts, which it provides. The complaint says all drivers receive men’s style pants, regardless of gender. According to the complaint, the pants are “uncomfortable and poorly fitting” for women truckers.

I fully expected to click on the news link and see it be something absolutely stupid.

If it is true that they are only providing men's pants for women to wear, I would say that is a problem.

Unisex clothing is a thing. It doesn't fit anyone quite right but it's serviceable.

So maybe just change the labels on the pants if they say Men's.

I'd like to see her actual complaint. If she wants the female cut so she LOOKS better or if there's an actual functional difference. Walmart isn't legally obligated to make her butt look good, but if there's an effect on her doing her job then it's a legitimate issue.

I don't think it would be too difficult for Walmart to provide woman's pants and shirts.
I mean if there is a different cut and fit women require, Walmart should provide proper fitting uniforms.

Walmart only cares they get the job done not what they look like as long as it's not to crazy

Very few people wear uniform pants anyway simply because they don't fit anyone correctly. Nobody loses their minds over it. "Class action" means there's going to hvae to be a large following for this.

Good luck with that.

I'll be chuckling from the sidelines anyway because I got fired last month.

@Sinister Say it isn’t so.

A 'tow the line, do as your told', company man?

I could never work for a mega company. I'd be fired in less than a week.

What did you do, forget an acronym?

Here is a brief summary.

It's not why I haven't posted in a month or so. I haven't posted in a while because I'm pissed at @Mike over some shit with the articles from the front page and was throwing a hissy fit.

Anyway, here's the info.
