Hyliion, a Cedar Park-based startup that designs and installs gear to enable commercial vehicles to run on electricity, has merged with Tortoise Acquisition Corp., and the combined company has gone public.

Hyliion makes hybrid and fully electric power train suspensions for semi tractors and trailers. Its technology, which turns tractor-trailers into hybrid electric vehicles, is aimed at cutting fuel expenses and lowering emissions.

Tortoise Acquisition is a special-purpose acquisition firm associated with Kansas-based Tortoise Capital Advisors LLC.

In the future will the FMCSA make the distinction if hugging a tree is considered on duty or off duty?
