Driver's Retirement Thread

Believe it or not they are regulated by the Department of Agriculture. Go figure.
Yeah there's a lot of goofy things like that.

Like why does the National Park Service operate the Secret Service?

Why is the job of coroner an elected position? How is a democrat going to pronounce death any differently than a republican? :dunno:

But in my county, the coroner has the authority to arrest the sheriff. And he carries a gun. Like, just in case he gets attacked by a corpse at an accident scene. 🙄

I wonder if Bob Marley was a coroner.

It was 82F outside today. I couldn't throw that away. I got the yard mowed, weed whipped, edged and blown down. After that, I dropped a high Nitrogen fertilizer on it to get it greened up and moving. I should get a good amount of rain later this afternoon from that cold front that plastered you all this past week. Then it's going to get cold as hell by the morning.:throwfit:

It's been below freezing all day here.

Sipping coffee, waiting for my deliveries. They're usually late afternoon/early evening.

We ran out of propane yesterday and within a few hours it was 49°F inside the house.

I would say you need to look into insulating that place a little better. Propane here is like the cost of regular gasoline.
The only insulation in the entire house is in the attic, on top of the upstairs ceilings.

Oh and some asbestos around some of the boiler system pipes in the basement. 🙄

So, I'll bet that it gets toasty hot upstairs in the summer with the insulation trapping the heat in.

It seems like every time I go to do something within the walls of this house, there is pink R-22 fiberglass in there. In the attic there is 2' of it according to the depth sticks placed everywhere.

Wow.

I typically think of insulation as being for holding in heat.

If you've got that much in Florida, it's gotta be for air conditioning. Insulation works both ways.

R-22 is what I put in the walls of my shop. It's thick stuff for 2x6 studs.

The stuff I put over the ceiling is R-39 or something. It's about ten inches thick, and then I've got tarps spread over it to keep it dry in case a meteorite pokes a hole in the steel roof. 🤓

I finally said, 'Screw it, I'm cruising today'. Took a 100 mile ride around NASA and the county. I have 2 weeks left on my access badge, so I figured I'd get in there while I could. Beautiful 65-70 degree day. The sky, almost as blue as my car.

When I pulled up the the guard shack, you never know who will come out, I came up next to the door and this "11" blonde comes out with the biggest smile and eyes as blue as the sky and my car. I accidentally dropped my badge on the ground and looked at her and said, "Ma'am, you are gorgeous". These people in uniform sorta demand the Ma'am and Sir, routine. I give it out of respect.

Anyway, she never looked at my badge, said thank you, asked if I had any weapons and where I was going. I answered her questions and she told me to enjoy my ride.

Cruising along I spotted a space capsule crated outside of a warehouse like it was ready to be picked up. I couldn't pass up the photo op. Also grabbed a few shots across the river from the famous Launch Pads 39A and 39B. After that, I ran up to the north end of the county and putted back down US 1.
