Dillon Logistics Shuts Doors..

Pardon my dumb. I'm not seeing the crash stats...
Crashes reported to FMCSA by states for 24 months prior to: 09/03/2021

Note:
Crashes listed represent a motor carrier’s involvement in reportable crashes, without any determination as to responsibility.

Crashes:
Type
Fatal
Injury
Tow
Total
Crashes
31
312
879
1222

So 31 fatals out of 15,898 power units for a 0.0019.

Vs

4 fatals out of 323 power units for a 0.012.

Sounds like Dillon was roughly 6 times deadlier than Swift.
With a smaller company, the numbers get distorted very easily.

I could be in a fatality accident tomorrow, and my company deadly level by that figuring would be 100%. Could be an accident that wasn’t my fault, but the number of drivers to fatal accidents would still be 100%. Hell, it could be a suicide attempt that chose my truck as the tool to die with.

My fatality in 12/2015 meant less to insurance than any of the other accident.

In the end, it was my loss rate that sunk me.

All because others didn’t follow instructions.

there’s reasons someone says….” Do NOT change lane when going past an on-ramp if someone is merging. No matter the reason.” $9000 claim. Wiped out the side of a minivan on his left side while he was watching the car on the on-ramp.

@Electric Chicken
What were those videos you were posting the other day…

there’s reasons people are told…” NEVER back up on a city street … EVER.” $9000 claim. Backed into a 2019 Camry wiping out the front out…

“ I never saw the car back there…”
“I’m a great driver. Had my cdl since 1988.”
she got let go. People want to know why I have a heart ache when people start tossing out “I got 35 years experience…” “ I been driving or riding in a truck since I was a toddler…”

yop, your attitude will get you in an accident faster than shit out a baby’s backside.

there’s reasons people tell you to be mindful of your overhead clearance.

it’s better to stop prior to hitting something and verify you can actually go under it.

$68,000 loss to the truck and trailer. Both totaled.

But hey…. People know better.

4th claim was due to the shipper insisting they knew better than the driver how to load a trailer. Stacked a 5000 lb rock drill on a pallet on top of a stack of net pins.

not even sure where to begin with that one. $115,000 claim.

Loss ratios will destroy an owner operator or small trucking company faster than anything else.

not just because you have a fatality or 31.
