I had a Chinese buffet the other day, and I did a facebook check in thingy a the place and I put "You wan buffet and peshhi, or no you wan moundew???!!!"
I got called a racist by like 5 people in my own status for making fun of Chinese people at a Chinese buffet joint LIKE NOBODY HAS EVER DONE THAT....
I have no idea what to say about your burning plastic and cooking meat over it though. I'd imagine it would change the flavor a bit.
Huh, Facebook.
Imagine that...........
Since I don't go there, tell'em I said "Tough fortune cookies" for me.
LMAO.
I ain't gonna cook over burning plastic, LOL.
I don't plan on using pine, except maybe some green needley stuff to get it going. One of my trees here is walnut, plus I saved about 80% of a dead one I cut down about 2 years ago so I could experiment with making outdoor log furniture. But I broke my band saw the other day because it's a Chinese piece of ****. Actually it says "MADE IN TAIWAN" but I'm still gonna call it Chinese cuz it's cheaply made.
I'm also not planning on cooking food over any kind of construction lumber cuz most of it's pine, and if it's pressure-treated, it's full of arsenic. I think the majority of the wood I might use at home is either maple or whatever the hell these big hollow mystery trees are. They might be maple. All I know is that there are all those little helicopter things all over the place every spring (maple seeds) and they're all hollow and one of them has a nest in it and if you stand on the back porch and look up, most of the time there are two yearling Great Horned owls looking down at you with those mean, evil eyes, probably wishing they knew how to fly so they could swoop down and peck your eyes out. (Them damn things are mean, like flying snapping turtles.)
@Racer X 69, my fire pit thing is made of sheet metal. Black iron I think. It's black, but not painted black. It's just black like the wood stove in my living room. While I was putting it together, I had Mrs. Duck read the manual, just to keep her occupied because she wasn't interested in playing with the bubble wrap, and she said that it mentioned something about adding 5 lbs of sand to the thing. That would almost compensate for the thermal mass of your 1300 lb cast iron thing. And mine aint got a hole in the bottom. It's just a big bowl with legs.
Most any wood is fine, even construction wood. The only icky stuff is plywood and pressure treated, the rest is fine.
Had to improvise a few times after hurricanes and ice storms with whatever I could find. No problems.
