Clearinghouse requirements delayed for states, not for truckers

I’ve got to run the query. I got everything set up, but didn’t know I was charged for the query.
The tax is one thing, the time it takes to keep track of yet another BS requirement is just as bad. Safer, UCR, MCS 150, biennial, annual, yada yada yada. All this crap needs to be built into one site and come due all at the same time, so you don't have to try and remember if you have done everything.

They streamlined things with IRP and IFTA over the way it used to be, and that was a tremendous improvement. Now they're going backwards.

You have to purchase a query for each operators. It was like $1.50.

Stupid isn’t the word I’d use for it.

As the motor carrier you have to register. I got that done no issues.

As a driver I have to register too. I was never able to get that done at all. Kept failing on me.

I registered pretty easy, but this purchasing a query to find out if I used drugs is absurd and is just fucking insulting. They mandated this shit they should have to fund it. It’s another tax. Pay it or be fined. Somehow they managed to circumvent Congress again.

Just completed my 2nd query on myself. Figured I would bump this as a reminder for anyone that needs to do this and hasn't done it yet.

It was just one of those things that popped up in my head that I had totally forgotten about. Going to have to set up calendar reminders for stupid things like this.

I'm going to sound ignorant, but what is the purpose of doing it on yourself? Does it show that you are being looked into or are you doing it to assure yourself of no errant information?

He’s not really doing it on himself.

The motor carrier, his business, is doing the query on their driver, himself.

The fact that both people are the same is irrelevant.

Same as he has to fill out his own driver employment packet and then request the driving history as well.

Thanks for the explanation. The whole thing is a lot more complicated than when I was a 5 truck motor carrier in 1997.
All this does is show that the carrier has checked the database for each driver to see if there have been any drug violations that they may not otherwise be aware of.

The system took lots of drivers off the road who were flying under the radar.
