Best and Worst Mega Companies

What are the best and the worst mega companies to work for ?

I’d have to say the worst is Swift. They are the ones I see with a lot of accidents and unable to properly back in a truck stop.

The best ? I don’t know. Many seem to of been successful with Schneider so I guess I’d have to pick that one.

But I’ve never worked for neither.

So anyone else have an opinion based on personal experience or whatever.

Even though Schneider has a tanker division.

I’d put that on any of the trainer companies. Swift isn’t alone in that.

prime, Werner, Cr England etc the list goes on.

Schneider is toxic if you're not a yes man. Kind of like a cult at the OCs as well.

But you can make money.

Not sure that any company stands out as being better than the others. England probably has the worst reputation here on the forum, though I don’t think anybody here actually drove for them.

@Injun used to give a pretty good explanation of the goings on of SWIFT, made them sound like a decent company to me, as far as big companies go.

I was at Schneider as an owner operator, but most of the company drivers I talked to seemed to do pretty well. I mean, you had those who just weren’t going to be happy.

All in all, probably not much separating any of them from each other, and truth be told, most of the smaller companies probably aren’t much different, if any.

Most of the Schneider tankers I see are beat to hell. So you're probably correct.

Thats tank washes and the yard drivers in them more than tanker drivers themselves.

The South Gate, CA QC yard is so tight you just give up and drop it and look at the yard guy like a lost puppy.

Then he laughs at you and grabs your trailer and puts it wherever.

I'm a fan of several reefer companies. Reefer drivers at Swift Refrigerated make decent paychecks right out of cdl training. Over .40 cpm right out of school, plus accessorial pays.

18 yrs. OTR reefer experience.
Haven't driven for Swift Refrigerated, but keep close tabs and know how the company has greatly improved over the years. Reefer and Flatbed side is top-of-the-line.

Oh yeah sure. All I ever hear from experienced drivers on this forum and others is how much we all admire Swift.

I’m sure all the Swift trucks I’ve seen in the ditch and overturned over the years were the fault of someone else.
