Trucking News: ATA wants to take marijuana head-on

SAN DIEGO — More than a quarter of Americans live in a jurisdiction that allows legal marijuana. Weed’s growing popularity in the U.S. is an increasing and complicated concern for the trucking industry.

American Trucking Associations is looking to take the lead in how U.S. businesses adapt to legal weed, noting that there is more to learn about its effects. The ATA Board of Directors created new policies this week that calls for a common-sense approach to liberalizing marijuana laws — in the name of safety. And since every state has different cannabis laws, ATA wants the federal government to change its approach.

“We’ve got to get the federal people involved in this so we have uniformed impairment rules across our nation,” Harold Sumerford Jr., CEO of J&M Tank Lines, told a luncheon crowd at ATA’s Management Conference & Exhibition.

Feds need to lift the ban and go copulate with themselves.

Tests that ONLY check for current influence need to be developed and the old tests need to be banned entirely under penalty of torture.
Test that only check for current influence exist and have for years. It has something to do with scanning the eyes. The tests aren't accepted though. The courts make too much money off the old way and the lawyers don't want the courts to be able to have more evidence against their clients.

Yeah that's why the penalty for using the old "what did you do three weeks ago as if it f*ing matters" tests needs to be torture.

Torture and beheading if they do it twice. 🤬

These people do need a common sense approach and some real world experience.
The should toke a dube and see how long the effects last compered to alcohol.

This goes all the way back to when J. Edgar needed a new business to keep the FBI going after Prohibition ended...

Is it easier to drive impaired by alcohol or marijuana?
Just like with alcohol it depends on the person, things effect folks differently. So when I was in the army the local county sheriff put on this anti drunk driving thing. They put you in this simulator and dial up the bac as you drive and the screen blurs and the steering doesn’t react right. I had one friend drive perfectly until the screen went black. I couldn’t keep it on the road at .08 lol
