they are presistant.

WASHINGTON, DC, January 27, 2009 (ENS) - The American Trucking Associations today asked Congress to enact a national 65 mile per hour speed limit and govern truck speeds at 65 mph or slower to reduce fuel consumption. Testifying on behalf of ATA before the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, ATA First Vice Chairman Tommy Hodges also asked Congress to support national fuel economy standards for medium and heavy-duty trucks leading to lower emissions through reduced fuel consumption.[more]

Trucking Industry Asks Congress for National 65 mph Speed Limit

This is going to suck if it happens. If they do it to trucks, they need to do it to cars as well. Friggin ATA

Why don't ppl just mind their own business instead of putting every law they can think of on the trucking industry when they don't even have a clue about the trucking industy. If truckdrivers want to go their speed limit,so be it.Let the drivers worry about how much fuel they use.NOT THE ATA.

The irritating thing about this, is that the publications that are spreading this once again word it as "The Trucking Industry asks for speed limit". The trucking industry ? No. The large companies that are padding the pockets of the corrupt ATA? yes.

Well my lord ATA and many other associations make many laws strickly targeted to the trucking industry.I bet most of them have never even drove a truck but boy they sure are quick to come up with laws for the truck drivers. They need to focus on all the motorist on the hwys NOT just the truckdrivers .Silversurfer I did email ATA just be4 i sent this forum and boy did I give them a piece of my mind.

Rebel you're absolutely right. But when I hear another law targeted to only the trucking industry,I don't think I can compose myself in a polite manner over the phone. They'd hang up on me.

A note for e-mailers.
Most of congress won't let you email from your mail, you must use their little contact forms on their website. That's why I posted that way.
It's a pain but that's the way it is. Some also won't accept it if you are not from their district (zip code given).
So that's why my hillbilly ass likes to pick up the phone and burn their ears.

I have stuck a thread in both the Trucking News, and Politics forum (and identical thread) that gives all of you easy access to information on contacting the politicians in your area, as well as voting records and stances on issues.
