Who's got them? We seem to be suffering more this year according to this article:
The nose knows: Allergy season here with vengeance - Yahoo! News. I know I am, and it seems like nothing helps. I have tried OTC meds, prescription meds, herbal remedies, nettie pots, and even advice from old wives tales. I have found doing a good salt water rinse with a nettie pot helps the most, along with drinking lots of water to thin nasal secretion.

How do you deal with your allergies?
 

I don't think i'm alergic to anything outside.But purfumed soap oh yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa big time.I break out in a bad bad case of hives.My arms were so scarred and purple I laid out for yrs to lighten them up now u can't notice them and I can wear short sleeve shirts.I used calamine lotion and took baths in Aveeno Oatmeal.Aveeno is excellent for anyone with sensitive skin.I use it all the time.Vitamin E oil is also real good.
 
Patricia, you should try some of my homemade goatmilk soap. It is wonderful for folks with allergies or skin problems. The last batch I made, I scented it with vanilla but I also make it unscented for folks with allergies. Next time you are in this area let me know and I will give you some to see if it works for you. It is lye soap but don't let that scare you. It is nothing like the old time lye soap that took the hide off, lol. All soaps have lye but most bar soaps available today are detergents rather than soap, since all the good stuff has been removed and added to the more expensive body products.
 
Thanks i'll remmeber that.I have'nt itched in awhile.But when I do I take care of it before it gets worse.I think hives is worse then getting poison ivy.

Aveeno is really good too and it is the only store bought soap I have used in a long time. I love the Aveeno body wash in blackberry Vanilla scent, oooooh la la.
 
There's something else about goat's milk that's a cure for something, but I'll have to look it up on another site and get back here.
Probably a cure foe Alzheimer's or something

But for allergies, what's been working for me the last few years is honey.
Local honey.
That may not help much with OTR drivers unless you have regular runs, but the pollen in it is like a natural allergy shot.
A cup of tea with honey once a week and I'm fine. Start in early spring.

Absolutely. I had forgotten about that one. Like you said, just make sure it is local honey. Honey is also a good natural antiseptic for wounds.

I was born allergic to milk,The more I cryed the more milk they gave me as a baby they just thought I was hungry and thats why I was crying.They don't test for allergies untill your like 3,After that I had to drink soybean milk in my cereal and that is gross.But i out grew that allergie and I currently enjoy chugging milk every chance I get.

And now y'all know the answer to a question I had since I was a little boy.

Very OT (maybe) but thought I'd mention it .

The answer is rather complex and chemical/biological, but also a biblical question that no man could answer for me and apparently not even great Bible scholars that I spoke with.

"Why was the land of Canaan called the 'land flowing with milk and honey'?"

I mean, why those two foods? Always seemed odd to me, but must have a significant meaning. Why not steak and potatoes or peas and carrots, etc.
The only answer I got was that is was an ancient Hebrew expression.
Without going into a boring biochemistry lecture, the fact is milk is the only food on earth that contains all the essential amino acids (vitamins) and everything you eat is digested into C6H12O6 - also the formula for that simple sugar known as honey.

So you could literally live off milk and honey - it has everything you need to live.

Knowing my smartass nature, I immediately questioned the answer with "Yeah, but wouldn't your teeth rot out if you only ate milk and honey?"
The stern reply from the Holy Spirit teaching me was "Yeah smartass, but you don't need teeth to eat milk and honey, DO YA?"

I apologized, shut up and proceeded to learn more that night than in all the previous 23 years of my life.



Now, back to your regular programming..........
