They took my appendix.

How am I gonna find stuff?

Fri afternoon as I leave the yard I start to develop a stomach ache.......a rather bad one.
"Eh....just ate something didn't agree with me."
As the evening proceeds the pain ramps up and I consider telling dispatch I ain't doing the second trip. But, as it will finish the night and I figure iffin I ain't better on Sat. I will call out, I go ahead and run it.

Driving to my third station (about 2 hrs) the pain starts to recede, or so I thought. It really had just moved down to my lower right side and waited for me to do something stupid.
And I did.......

My job basically. Lifting those hoses to drain them put an ass whoopin' on me.
So now I'm sweating and panting so much you'd a thought I was at a mexican buffet!
Ba doom pish.......I'm here all week (2 weeks actually)

I climb up in the truck and I reach down and touch my right side and almost went thru the roof of the cab!
Ok.......this is officially not a stomach ache any longer.

Going thru my extensive medical knowledge (took .837 seconds) I landed on "I think that's where my appendix is....?"

Now a bit O panic starts to creep in cuz I've been ignoring this "stomach ache" for about 10 hrs.
Has this given my appendix enough time to burst?
Cuz even I know that ain't good.

Hustle my ass back to town, call the wife to let her know I is going to the ER.

She meets me there and in we go at a somewhat gingerly pace.
As in "look at that 92 yr old man trying to shuffle his frail decrepit body across the street"

They get me a bed and start taking vitals and the nurse tells me they will be removing my appendix.
"You're already that sure?"
"We could make a text book case outta you"

Even in sickness I set the standards.

Few hrs later I'm in the rip out room and the offending appendix is removed.

The pain wasn't terrible in the recovery room (kept me overnite) and I figured this was gonna be a breeze.
Then they released me and I walked to the car.........
Yeah, I'm done with walking........maybe forever.

I took very little pain meds while in hospital. Now? every 3 hrs and it effin hurts waiting that long.

So no driving for 5 days, no lifting ( yeah right, my fat ass is in my recliner for the foreseeable) for 2 weeks.

So in case any of ya's wondered........surgery HURTS!

Glad your ok. And healing up. That is painful.

Mine burst about fifteen years ago. I swore up and down it was gas. I was running laps around the back yard (with a fever) trying to get the gas to pass. Sandy insisting you don’t run a fever with gas and me insisting it’s possible. I can be hard headed at times.

She finally convinced me to go the ER. Doc says it’s your appendix. He said he couldn’t believe I wasn’t in extreme pain. Spent just short of a week in the hospital until the infection subsided.
I got some high powered drugs that were fun for a while.

I don’t miss the appendix and I can still find stuff.

Hey I feel for you......makes you wonder what happened while you were sleeping...been there done that program quack surgery....exploratory surgery findings were gangrene gall bladder. Hit with so many iv's looked like a pin cushion....bingo hit in neck area they run out of space else where. Darn right it hurts. Hope you recover soon.

Well, my stubbornness cost me more money and more pain in the long run. Had I listened to the wife it might have been caught before it burst.
Don't tell her I said that though.

I can't remember if I had a catheter in or if it was a drain coming outta my gut but when the doc removed it I launched about three feet off bed and grunted hard. The doc said "don't be a sissy."
I liked that guy immediately.

I had a severe pain in my side about 7 or 8 yrs ago.It got so bad i finally made it to my destination
i was done,called my wife and she took me to the er
they rushed m ein and soon took out my gall bladder.Stayed in there for about 3 days hooked up to a dilaudid machine since morphine sucked.I loved that stuff,loved it,loved it,loved it!Keep me the heck away from it today

drain tube in my side had to come out
back at the dr`s office a day or so later they yanked that thing out and I thought it was a mile long
hurt like he!!
I hit that same 3 foot mark easy,about to poke a hole in the ceiling

In my case did not stick around....went into surgery ten pm came out one am. Not one set of vitals taken during recovery......no bed checks all night long.....staff was too busy playing cards and laughing. Next morning nine am doc comes in tells me three week stay.....nope left against doc advice. Could take better care of myself at home. Went home six days later doc calls wants to remove staples he going on vacation...staples should remained ten to twelve days. Later learned from my medical report I had gone straight line...CPR was performed and paddles stuck to me. Also learned later doc was working here in this country on a green card. Doctor deserted practice , equipment and office but took all paper work or destroyed it within a month of my surgery. Never got a bill from hospital or the doctor. They made it look like it never happened. I managed to get a copy of medical report but when I went back for get lab reports nothing could be found...so be careful who you deal with.

No shit! Last GF was going to a primary care guy who was a major quack... really messed her up.

@Keendriver - get better Dude. When they start cuttin' on ya it ain't no laughin' matter. Ya didn't need that ol' appendix anyhow... just extra stuff ya don't need that only adds useless details to th' story.

Now if they removed yer index, ya'd be seriously up th' proverbial creek!
