TMC orientation

Greetings, I leave Alabama today for Iowa. TMC orientation begins Monday and I want to let people who may be interested in TMC know what to expect. I will try my best to update daily.

Hahaha prior service here so staying off the grass (showing the ability to follow simple commands/rules) shouldn't be to hard. But I have been feeling rebellious today.
Could be worse, could be raining. You going through the CDLA class or are you just there for orientation and training?

Prior service myself, TMC has been a really good fit for me. Hope it works out for you.

So day 1 is a hour away from being over. All I can say is be prepared for George, DOT physical, an actual agility course where you lift tarps, crawl under trailer and climb a ladder. O yes and a few test on the computer.

I'll be honest, an agility course that actually employs the equipment versus the semi-static "lift this box this high, this box this high, step on steps for a minute, bla de blah" agility course is something that I think is much better. It flat out proves if you can do the job or not versus something that is somewhat related but honestly not as related.

I know the agility course didn't cover unloading an entire van trailer packed to the roof with cabinetry. That was on par of a smoker with 1k 4 count overhead claps.

Ok the first week consist of learning hours of operation, logs/Qualcomm, doing paperwork taking general knowledge test. Thursday you meet Gunny and are briefed on load securement via PowerPoint. Today 5/18/2018 we go hands on with load securement. Load securement is very interesting.

It’s the part of your job that keeps you and others alive.

I enjoy it and take it very seriously.
Sorry I wasn’t suggesting otherwise. Trying to make conversation out of the post is all.

When I went through Gunny had the flu. So George gave the power point (imagine that presentation mixed with George’s humor and Rodney Carrington videos. Plus we had a guy who had pink tennis shoes. So that added to the humor when George noticed them) on Thursday and we went to Gunny’s classroom on Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday were in the securement bays.

Your load securement training exam shall consist of....

Tie this shit down and deliver it without spreading it all over the road.
