Delaware latest state to study vehicle miles traveled tax

With funding for infrastructure becoming worrisome as fuel taxes bring in less revenue, several states have been studying a potential mileage-based user fee or vehicle miles traveled tax.

Delaware is the latest state to join the ranks. The I-95 Corridor Coalition and the Delaware Department of Transportation have launched a three-month study of the vehicle miles traveled tax.

From May 1 to the end of July, phase one of the study will be a pilot program that includes more than 120 participants, which include DOT officials, legislators, members of the media and other stakeholders.

That’ll go over like a lead balloon.
I don't know. Politicians are noticing that people don't mind being tracked any more, as long as it's not being done by the government..... So here's what will happen. They'll create a "business" that provides the tracking devices and bills everyone for a "subscription" and they'll convince the ignorant sheep that their movements won't be tracked and that it only logs miles driven and calculates the taxes you owe, like one of those IFTA services.

Of course just like with the cell phone companies, that'll be a bold faced lie, they'll log everything from your speed, whether you cone to a complete stop at stop signs, etc. and sell that data to insurance companies so they can raise their rates. And of course government always gets what it wants, that privately stored data will be made available to the government any time they want. With or without a subpoena, makes no difference in the fact it'll be made available to them.

And of course, they'll use the old Nazi phrase "if you've got nothing to hide,..." line that'll convince just enough retarded wastes of oxygen to let it happen.

Not to unrail the thread but, can you believe people are paying for listening devices for their home like "Alexa"?
Sure cell phones can be listening devices but they don't work as well as a huge microphone always on listen.

J. Edgar Hoover would be proud.

Easy enough to avoid Delaware.

They should try implementing sales tax though before taxing people who just wanna pass through that little corner.

So I bought some new sundress this year that are a wee bit tighter than last year thereby showing off my panty lines......mo bettah.
I thought about wearing some heels with them instead of flats but I didn’t want to commit a fashion faux pas. :harumph:

Actually it’s funny you brought that up. I’m downtown every morning til about 11 babysitting another contractor. Yesterday the sundresses were out in FULL force. So many I texted a buddy of mine to let him know he was missing something spectacular.
Hmmmm..... A lady in a sundress speaking with a British accent? Looks like I have a mission for the day. :taunt:
