Wow wouldn't reccomend Verizon wireless

Got my bill today and I owe another 50 bucks in usage charges. Says I went over the allowed 5 gigs. That's crazy I thought I just use my aircard for general internet surfing. Don't really download a lot of stuff. So anyway I called and they said that there wasn't a mistake so I guess I'm stuck paying this bill. I wouldn't recommend Verizon apparently it is very possible to go over your usage plan. AT@T is unlimited. I was told by many people that 5 gigs would be way more than enough and that it would be impossible to go over. I have had this thing since last July and have never even come close to going over. Oh well lesson learned.

:beep:

I have there phone, it works great almost everywhere. I never go over.

I was going to try and get the verizon card for the laptop so I could be on the road and drop my home internet. I could not understand the 5gig baloney. If they say you'll never use 5 gigs why not give you unlimited for the same price. :D

Do you have to have a phone with the same company you get a card from?

Nah I have T-mobile. I bought the laptop and the aircard last July because I was going to go back on the road. As it turns out my current job gave me a raise on what was to be my last day. So now my laptop just sits on my coffee table. It's really weird. I have used my computer the same way every month and never went over. I just surf, talk on some forums and watch some porn. I don't download music or anything. I am going to inquire about cancelling my service and going with someone else. Maybe a landline. I just think that if you can get true unlimited service for the same price then you should do it.

I got a land line and land line internet now, it costs $55.00 for both. I've fantasized having a card and giving up the land line, then I could go driving around.

Would you rather have the land line service or a card.

I'm in extended area so I can't get verizon card.

I can only get att, sprint or t-mobile. You have any info on these. I have had bad luck with Sprint phones.

In hindsight I wish I never would have gotten the aircard as now I never need it's mobile capabilities. Honestly I don't know about any other air card. I would say that as far as customer service goes you are screwed either way. All the big companies suck. In my opinion T-mobile as far as the phone is okay. can't really complain. Now if you get outside of a city T-mobile has 0 service. Just make sure that whatever you do you get unlimited service.

any video you stream takes a LOT of bandwidth, I would say the porn got you.

I find that most truck stops have free wi-fi and I use my laptop there. I know some have a fee but it is usually relatively cheap. I had an air card through verizon and got shafted and def went over 5 gig all the time. I use my laptop to find loads in the area i am in so I never run home empty. :-)

I have a sprint wireless card and it is awesome. Same fee each month. Unlimited.
I can almost always find a good signal ... even in the middle of nowhere Wyoming and North Dakota.

For my cell phone I have Verizon. My husband has AT&T because he has an iPhone.

I am happy with all of my providers.

I sometimes use the free Wi-Fi at the rest areas or truckstops that have it for free.

As much as I dislike sprint's billing dept...ya got to stay on top of them when dealing with the phone side of the bill...the wireless connection is very good. Both my brother and I use sprint mainly for the wireless internet connection.

Sprint is not unlimited. They enacted the 5gb limit last year. But if your contract started before Oct., I think, you will not be charged extra for overage. But they can slow down your speeds or cut you off.

The rumors of new overage charges for Sprint EVDO Data service are true -- Effective Sunday, 11/02/08 all NEW accounts will be subject to $0.05/MB overage charges on all data beyond the first 5GB per billing month.
Lines of service established prior to 11/02/08 will NOT be subject to the new overage charges, but are still subject to Sprint's 5GB clause in their terms of service.
At $50/GB, Sprint's new overage charges are significantly less than those of its main rivals. Verizon's current overage charge is $250/GB, and AT&T's is currently $490/GB.

Hmmm! I have had them for years ... maybe I was grandfathered in to my unlimited plan or something. Because I've never been charged more than my monthly fee and the service is still great .... but I suppose I should give them a call and ask how their plan changes may affect me later.

That will teach me to ignore my emails from them.
