Tell Me About Your EGR/VGT Problems

This year my rig spent roughly (broken up across a two month period) 3 weeks in the shop for EGR/VGT issues.

Cummins paid for some and Pete paid for some.....But the down-time was my loss!!!
Anyone here use a DPF or ECM programs Delete?
If so, how are they working out for you?

As soon the rig's paid for and the warranty is over....I'd like to remove all of that garbage.

Thanks for any input.:leer:

Just a warning... DON'T GET CAUGHT!!!
The fines are horrendous (Felony) & if you fail to keep the parts to put back on when you want to sell or trade it off.. You are royally screwed!

And stay out of California & Virginia. I've heard about DOT using "sniffers" during inspections.

I solved my EGR/VGT/SCR/DPF problems. I bought a 2013 Columbia in August with a pre-egr factory rebuilt DDEC IV Series 60 in it. California may be off the list, but I haven't run there since the 90's. Still leaves the other 47 contiguous states open to me. And I saved $40K off the price of one of the new emission trucks.

I wouldn't go to CA even if I was driving a truck that was compliant.

Never heard of such thing, and Im from Cali. Only the snap test 'IF" there set up at the scales, but they rotate scale to scale.

Do they or can they do the snap test at night? At one time when New Jersey first started doing the snap test they could only do it in daylight.

I've never seen it done at night, at least not in So. Cal. area.

I have seen it done at night in AZ. but not often. The main reason for doing it at day is to be able to see any mods. done to exhaust system parts, such as a blocked or unplugged EGR valve, etc.
