MANNSVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - State police say an overinflated tractor-trailer tire exploded off its rim, killing a 37-year-old upstate New York man.
Michael Rabetoy of Adams was adding more air to the newly inflated tire he was putting on his milk tanker when it blew of the rim just before 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Troopers say Rabetoy was hit on the head by the tire, which flew 16 feet in the air and hit the ceiling at the M&T Transport garage in Mannsville.
He died late Tuesday night at University Hospital in Syracuse. Mannsville is 45 miles north of Syracuse in Jefferson County.
