my 57 281 peterbilt has a tilt fiberglass hood on it not butterfly doors does anyone no any info on this hood i was told by another driver that it was an aftermarket hood back then and is very rare they offfered the hood to all the makes back then its a nice hood fits excellent came with side panels on bottom was a nice design has 4 headlights and the crome ring around them is the same ones the old w900 with fiberglass hoods had i cant upload pics wont let me any help would be great

i just want to now what company it might had been the guy i talked to said he had a old brochure from the company anyone else have one maybe make a copy also how rare is it all the info i can get on it

You might try contacting Peterbilt through their website. I think they have some historical information tucked away in some dark, dingy basement somewhere, the trick is finding the right person in the company that can remember it and will share it with you.

Peterbilt didn't offer a fiberglass hood for the first time until 1970. It had to be an aftermarket add on done during a restoration. I did a couple quick searches, and couldn't find anything to help answer your questions as to who the manufacturer may have been. have you looked all over the hood for any identifying marks?

Ive done a quick look over but not thorough you are right it is an aftermarket hood from back then not sure on the year they were offered but from what i heard around the 70s one person thought the company was up in Washington thanks for your help
