Truckers gathered in West Monroe, LA, on July 30 for the second official convoy to roll for Special Olympics. The first was in Idaho in June.
Louisiana Convoy Coordinator Deborah Orser said the kids had a blast. Between 30 and 40 Special Olympics athletes came out to meet the truckers, enjoy great food and have a dance contest. The convoy had 14 trucks and raised $2,740. Photos from the event are available on their Facebook page.
Meanwhile, more World’s Largest Truck Convoys are getting ready to roll to benefit Special Olympics. The 2011 convoys take place on Sept. 17 in most areas, although some have designated other dates. Here’s a roundup of dates, locations and contact info for the upcoming events. As the dates of the convoys draw closer, Land Line will have additional information on locations and contacts.
