Truckstop meals usually ain't worth what ya pay..View attachment 64780
Chicken fried steak, smashed taters and a side salad washed down with iced tea.
No boo-fay or salad bar, and "socially diatanced" seating at the Iron Skillet in Joplin. A very abbreviated menu too. You needed to ask for condiments - salt and pepper came in those little paper packets.
The price is enough to keep you cooking in the truck, if that's what floats yer boat... or snacking on junk food. It was good for a change, good to be out of the truck for a meal, tasted good, but the meal itself wasn't worth the price. The pre-covid dining experience just wasn't there.
The "new normal" totally sucks.
Most days it beats what you're eatin' on...Truckstop meals usually ain't worth what ya pay..
Last time I saw TA Restaurant open ordered Cheesesteak, Tater tots , n chicken soup..
Meat was skimpy , Tater Tots seemed like they warmed em in microwave instead of nice n crispy , and the Chicken noodle soup tasted like out of a can..
Altogether was like 15 bucks for that crap
I've been getting "better" about not drinking on the road..Tonight, beer and lots of it and I might wash that down with some shepherds pie!
C'est la vie. (that's life) You only get to go around once on this earth no matter how much you ask the guy running this tilt-a-whirl planet to keep on going.I've been getting "better" about not drinking on the road..
That said I've been making 4/5 days even an "entire" WEEK in-between a BEER ...
Today just "sucked" so bad I needed me some "Liquidity" to cope
