The Executive Board of the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) voted unanimously to support a petition to require speed governors to be set at no more than 68 mph on trucks weighing more than 26,000 pounds.
According to a GHSA newsletter, the action occurred at its spring board meeting in Washington, D.C.
Last year, the American Trucking Association followed in the steps of Canada's largest carriers and endorsed a plan that would require all trucks speeds capped at 68 mph through the vehicle engine's ECM.
