Truckers To Pay $200 To Cross Pennsylvania Turnpike

U.S. Congressman John Peterson, R-PA, says turnpike toll increases, recently approved by the state legislature, will mean that heavy trucks will pay nearly $148.75 for a one-way trip across the state – and that the toll would eventually increase to almost $200.

Peterson and fellow Republican Congressman Phil English of Pennsylvania are opponents of the toll increases, and of Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell’s plan to turn Interstate 80 into a toll road.

I truly don't understand this. I know that big trucks are more likely to "tear up" the road but come on! One truck isn't going to do that much damage. I bet they will have a ton of money stashed away after this!

Not only does a truck not tear it up that much, each truck already pays a much larger amount of taxes to cover their use of the roads when they purchase fuel.

I am glad that I don't have to pay these tolls out of my own pocket, but I keep an eye on these things as I am considering purchasing my own truck later on down the road.

Every time I turn around its something, fuel is up, insurance is up, the only thing not is my pay per mile. Still its got to be better than being stuck indoors trapped.

Good point Adam, However there are a lot of foreign investors and foreign bankers planning on leasing a lot more U.S. interstates. You may want to think twice about purchasing anything costly for the time being. Peace
