South


- Severe storms are history as high pressure brings sunshine and dry weather today.
- Much of the Southeast will be breezy and about 20-25 degrees colder today and Friday.
- Snow showers possible in the mountains of Virginia and North Carolina today.
- A few showers are possible along a cold front in southern Florida.
- Today's highs generally in the 40s and 50s throughout the Southeast with 30s in the Appalachians, 60s for much of Texas and low 70s in far South Florida.


Midwest


- A much colder Thursday for much of the Midwest and Gt. Lakes regions as arctic air rushes southward out of Canada.
- Snow showers in the Gt. Lakes and Ohio valley areas.
- Most of the region will be windy today.
- Significant lake-effect snow accumulations, 6-12"+ across the U.P. of Michigan and southeast of Lakes Michigan and Erie today through Saturday.
- Highs today below zero in parts of the Upper Midwest, especially North Dakota and northern Minnesota.
- Wind chills 20 to 50 degrees below zero for the northern Plains and Upper Midwest.
- Highs today only in the teens and 20s across much of the Gt. Lakes region.
- Highs in the 30s and 40s for much of Kansas.


Northeast


- Heavy rain will fall this morning across much of New England but rain will turn to snow in western sections.
- Gusty winds, over 50 mph at times, will prevail from the Mid-Atlantic to the Northeast.
- Temperatures will be tumbling today from west to east across the region as the arctic air rushes in.
- Snow showers are likely from upstate NY to WV with locally heavier accumulations east/southeast of the Gt. Lakes.
- Highs will fall from the 50s across coastal New England, but wind whipped 20s will prevail from western NY to WV.


West

- Periods of snow showers are likely across the northern Rockies today.
- Scattered rain showers are possible today across parts of western WA and OR.
- The Desert Southwest will be dry today with warmer temperatures (60s to near 70.
- Highs in the 30s and 40s from the Northwest to western CO.
- Minor Santa Ana winds likely over the next couple of days east of Los Angeles in the foothills.
- A glancing blow of the arctic air will give very cold temperatures in the -10 to +10 range in northeast Montana.
- Chilly highs in the 20s and 30s throughout the remainder of the Rocky Mountain states.
- Highs in the 40s and 50s stretch from the Northwest coast to central and southern New Mexico.
- Milder highs in the 60s and 70s occur in California, extreme southern Nevada and west and south Arizona.
