On Monday, Sept. 19, a truck driver was parked at a Hardee’s restaurant in Stafford, VA, when six to eight males approached his rig. He told police that they knocked on his window and told him that he had won $1 million in a lottery, but that he had to play a card game with them, according to the news outlet, Fredericksburg.com.
When the driver refused to play three-card monte, a well-known card game scam at truck stops, the group gathered at the back of his truck, bouncing it up and down until he got out of the cab.
According to the news report, when the driver got out of his truck, one of the suspects “pulled out cash and gave it to the victim.”
The victim was handing the money back when the suspect “grabbed a ring on his finger and punched him in the face.”
The suspects then fled the scene on foot. As of press time, no arrests have been made in the case. Police described the suspects as being between the ages of 18 to 31, with “numerous tattoos, mostly writings.” The primary suspect is described as having a “brown goatee, another was heavyset, and a third had an impaired left eye.”
