So two years ago it would seem, Thermo-King installed a new idler pulley on my APU. I was doing my regular service that needed to be done on it and noticed that the idler was worn away again and needed to be replaced.
I bought two idlers while I was on the road. One to go ON the Tri-Pac right away as it was that far gone and the other so I would have a spare and take to my local parts guys.
This is what we found:
The two pulleys on the left are the TK OEM pulleys. They are made from plastic. The middle pulley is the one I had on my Tri-Pac after about 2000 hours of service. The bushing below it I pushed out of the bearing in a vice with a couple of sockets to install into the new pulley on the right. The Gates, 38005, is the part that replaced the TK part. It is a metal pulley instead of plastic.
The TK part was $45. The Gates Part is $20.
