The hard thing about trucking is

I'm learning about trucking and allot of truck drivers I've talked to have said not to get into trucking. So far I've read about why truck drivers fail and truck drivers not bathing (eww) and all sorts of other things.

I guess, before I totally jump into this, I want to see if you guys & gals can talk me out of it. LOL.

So, I want to know, what is a hard thing about trucking? Something you struggle with day to day, or month to month or just hate in general?

Defensive Driving: It is something you must be forever vigilant about, beginning before you ever start the engine because your equipment (or your mechanic) can cause you as much danger as any errant driver. I get extremely weary of other peeps inability to operate their vehicles in a safe and courteous manner. This is what I like the least about trucking.

In most cases, this job requires to be self motivated and you must have the ability and discipline to constantly plan ahead and "stay" on schedule.

If you cannot do the above, you then find yourself not bathing properly because you don't have the time to stop and shower. You find yourself not eating properly because you are grabbing burgers or hot dogs "to go" because you didn't plan time to stop and eat. You also find yourself not sleeping properly.

I can not give you an Unbias answer to your question Terapene, I have been at this to long to be able to answer.

I think Bull gives you a good analogy of the self motivation needed

As for me, I consider nothing hard, because on my love for the occupation. There are challanges that you have to face daily, but if you really enjoy that in which you do, then your drive, desire and motivation should be self induced to perform at the best you can and take on the challanges of that industry

Looknif u want to have a trk driving carreer then i say go for it only u will know if u like it or not everybody has their reasons why they like it and why they do not as long as u dont have a husband or kids that object to it then i say go for it if u dont mind being out at least a month at a time i love it but the worst about trucking for me is many of the horse and buggy roads not designed for semis then i also go to customers that barely have room even for straight trks thats the most stressful part for me

the only thing hard about trucking is if you have a family being gone all the time but if you don't have a family then you should be ok out here on the open road
