What a day today.

Called dispatch at about 1230 hours, let them know I'm all emptied out and ready for next assignment. They told me to sit tight they may have something.

One of those Friday last minute Brokerage deals I said, ho-hum been there done that. They keyed me up about 20 min later giving me the address to my next p/u and drop off. That"s when I noticed and said hey this is right by the Airport. That' where the fun began...........

OK so I'm pulling up to the stop, first thing we think of, ok where's the building with the docks :dunno:...............

But Nooo! That guy on the forklift escorted me through the gate and said follow me. I had noticed that plane pullup there shortly after I arrived.

Upon seeing the pilot and his handlers step out as we were getting closer I realized I'm about to unload right out here next to this plane . Ahh snap!

Here we were, two mega cargo carrying entities right next to each other.........

Actually I was kinda nervous  taking these shots with all the security clearance. You can see I had to duck behind the trailer for this one.

I thought for sure someone would come up to me and say "Were you taking pictures Sir", uhm yes "Come with Us" :scared:

So I strutted back to my cab and waited for them to load me when I noticed these two young high school looking boys in safety vest walking toward the back of my trailer. They must be my loaders cause my freight was in the nose (24 double stacked crates.) and the forklift driver had already put the pallet jack in the trailer.

But after several minutes went by and no freight was unloaded I wondered do these boys know what their doing. As I was walking toward the back one of the boys met me and said because of liability reasons we cant touch this freight you have to unload it...........

Yes sir that Plane is headed to Mexico, Air Anos

I snapped this as I was pulling the crates to the arse
:bootyshake:. Notice I took this when no one was looking.

So I commence to unloading the freight.........

They commence to loading the plane, I sneak in another shot here.
It was at about this time that a smaller jet engined plane taxied right by us
in front of the above plane.

pic5.jpg

It was so close I was too afraid to snap a pic of it. It was in the area to the left of this shot so I just took
a pic of this Jet instead.

So here's the last of the crates. The pilot came up to us and ask how many more as they were trying to make room in the plane.....

So here I am being escorted out of the airport gates by the kid in the vest, @Rigjockey
what do you call them, you use to do this right.

But what a day. There was a section in this forum to post your most memorable load or day or whatever, so this is mine.

And to think I was going to put this over in "whats your view right now".

So what was that crap that was so important in Mexico they had to fly it there? :headscratch2:

Next time take as many pics as you would like. Military airports are a little different. I was a little hesitant about it when I first started learning to fly. I would ask and was always told yes I could. Finally one told me if I wasn't allowed to take pictures they would inform me ahead of time and actually take my camera away before I am allowed to enter the area.

Thanks for that info.

Our company is less than a mile from that airport and in the 6+ years I've worked there, this was the 1st time venturing in.

Beats when I went to O'hare in Chi-town though a couple years ago. Though we used real docks I had some
China Bound freight with not enough documentation.

Six hours later we finally got all the paperwork through.

When I was pulling up next to that plane another guy was giving me the two-arm motions exactly where he wanted me just like they do for the aircraft. Did you do that too?
Yup! I used to marshal aircraft to the gate.
It is pretty intimidating the first time you guide in a plane and then it pretty intimidating when you guide in your first 747:D

We were just there to prevent a collision between aircraft and ground equipment and stop them at the correct spot to line up with the bridge.
