Senator Aims To Kick Unsafe Driver and Carriers Out Of The Industry

I think if they bring in EOBR's,They should have something like a taxi meter,So the driver get their milage plus time stting in traffic and wait time a fair wage.

I've been saying that for a long time.

Do you call c.a.r.b. corrupt or as I say stupid, corrupt is where a pol sells his votes to make money for him and his special interest groups, stupidity is when a pol votes that COST him, his special interest group or his state money. c.a.r.b. and most of their other STUPID regulatory bills have bankrupted that state, now is that corrupt or stupid?

The only people that complain about corruption are those who don't benefit from it.

There is a mandate to co ntrol the excess of government, it's called the US CONSTITUTION, unfortunately they refuse to abide by the limitations set by the highest law of our land. That is why the Tea party has come into existance. To make the feds obey their constitutional limitatons and become fiscally responsible. It's pretty sorry when the media says obeying the constitution is radical right wing thinking.

Like most politicians, he likes to hear himself talk. An EOBR does not prevent an unsafe driver from getting behind the wheel. It merely provides evidence of the hours that driver has worked, and only after the fact.

Your right. I think he's a little late to the party. Its also clear he has not read the actual statistics and has no clue who is really killing who. If he did there wold be a crack down on passenger car drivers. Just another example of truckers being political whipping boys because we will not organize.

So why then do trucking companies get away with not paying overtime to hourly employees and not paying for On Duty Time to mlg drivers?

Pay the drivers for their on duty time and they wont be so stingie with the limited time they have.

I hope OOIDA shoots this down. They don't need on board recorders. They need to pay the drivers.

And having safe, ample parking wouldn't hurt either. If they want us to obey the law they should provide us with the tools to do so, not take those away.

This legislation also will not correct the issues the industry has regarding poorly maintained equipment. The same companies that push the drivers over the edge also run the ragged line where equipment is concerned. A truck and trailer that isn't moving is a liability, not an asset. So companies tend to turn a blind eye to repairs and maintenance.

I think this is the whole point of the CSA: to also make the company responsible so they can't just put the blame on the driver all the time.

in theroy, Under the old system, drivers who were treated poorly or unfairly were suppose to put pressure on the companies to make things right. But that never worked since the companies would just level blame onto the driver and if the driver didn't like it he would be dismissed, and replaced with a bigger idiot.

It was much worse before the unions took over trucking. Back then driver were expected to load thier own truck drive all night and day, and fix anything if it broke (usually at thier own expense). The companies didint care because they always had a line of guys who needed a job and were willing to work, at least untill the job killed them. The comanies (not just trucking) will get away with as much as they think they can. That's we we have labor laws now.

Well the unions may have served that purpose at one time, they now are the lackeys of the left (the socialists). who else would call obeying the Constitution radical. The purpose of the bill of rights is to protect us from an overbearing federal government.
