LANSING, MI — Michigan lawmakers have approved a one-year roadside drug testing pilot program that will use saliva tests to determine if there are drugs in a driver’s system.

The pilot program will kick off in five counties, with the tests administered by state troopers who have undergone training for the roadside drug tests. The test can determine the presence of Schedule 1-5 controlled substances, much like a breathalyzer detects alcohol.

And that point means? Colorado, Oregon, and Cali are legal right damn now but that does not make smoking dope and operating a vehicle legal.

Exactly. It's legal in Washington, too. Not legal to drive under the influence. Been a few DUIs issued for mariiljuana since it was legalized. Well, before, too, but now that it's legal, it's news.

wonder how soon before a driver gets thrown in jail for providing a sample in the face of some cop
I don't know.

When I was 17 I was driving around Romeoville, IL with about 6 or 7 friends crammed into a Ford Escort & we were smoking weed with the windows rolled up. We even had one riding in the rear hatch area.

Cop pulled us over because he saw us leaving a park after dark when it was closed.

My idiot friends told me to floor it & run from the cops.... in an overloaded compact car with a 4 cylinder... :bonk:

Anyway none of us thought to open the windows in a desperate attempt to air out the car in the minute or so that lapses between the cherry lights going on & the cop walking up to the door.

When I rolled down the window I could see a cloud of pot smoke roll out right in his face.

He gave me a $15 Village of Romeoville ordinance violation because my left brake light was out. Then he said to stay out of the park and left.

:confused-96:

"OK officer, not a problem, have a nice night"
