Managed Open Platform Enables QUALCOMM to Add Services Such as Maptuit’s Interactive Navigation

San Diego,CA & Burlington,MA - QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading provider of business-to-business wireless enterprise applications and services, and Maptuit Corporation, a leading provider of truck-specific, real-time directions for the trucking industry, today announced that the companies have entered into an agreement to make available Maptuit’s NaviGo™ on the OmniVision™ mobile computing platform. Maptuit NaviGo is a real-time, hybrid (a combination of onboard and server-based technologies), in-cab navigation service that provides professional truck drivers and trucking companies with interactive maps for increased routing efficiency and improved driver satisfaction. QUALCOMM plans to offer NaviGo on the OmniVision platform later this year.

“We are excited to work with Maptuit to make the NaviGo service available to our customers,” said Norm Ellis, vice president and general manager of global transportation and logistics for QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions. “By working with industry-leading service providers to offer their solutions on the OmniVision platform, we ensure that our customers can draw from a wide pool of expertise and choose the best possible solution for their needs.”

The OmniVision mobile computing platform is an integrated system consisting of hardware, software and network infrastructure, enabling delivery of two-way data communications and value-added services to enterprises in a mobile environment. Specifically designed for the transportation and logistics industry, the OmniVision system incorporates industry-specific capabilities and features available integration with back-office systems from the leading transportation management software service providers.

The OmniVision platform enables fleets to enjoy a host of new features and benefits while using value-added services available for current QUALCOMM mobile systems. Advanced text-to-speech capability improves driver safety and productivity by allowing drivers to listen to and replay messages, eliminating the need to pull over and stop the vehicle to read a text message. The platform also features an integrated, color touchscreen and a remote control device, providing drivers quick access to critical information.

“Our strategy has always been to develop strong strategic relationships and to create brand associations that compliment Maptuit’s and our partners’ brands,” said Jeff Papows, Ph.D., CEO of Maptuit. “The combination of Maptuit’s NaviGo and QUALCOMM’s OmniVision system is yet another example of industry standards in navigation and mobile systems. This relationship will provide trucking companies with a sophisticated solution that will benefit their bottom line and their driver retention rates.”

The Maptuit NaviGo solution enables fleets to leverage the industry’s only hybrid, real-time navigation solution that provides an improved driver experience. Maptuit’s technology and its community of over 80,000 drivers continue to enhance and update the road network.
